Western Mass Weather for November 24, 2018

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES HAVE EXPANDED INTO ALL OF S.VT AND SW.NH, WITH SOME POTENTIAL ICING DOWN INTO PARTS OF FRANKLIN, HAMPSHIRE, AND N. WORCESTER COUNTIES…
(6:10pm Sat)

Good evening everybody, rain will be overspreading the region between 8pm-11pm from southwest to northeast.

Some areas are sitting at or just below the freezing mark. In some cases, dew point temps are in the low 20s, which means that temps could fall a bit more before stabilizing and rising a bit by morning. Lows will generally be in the low to mid 30s overnight.

This means that we can expect some areas of S.VT, SW.NH, the WHs (western hilltowns), Berkshires, Taconics, Litchfields, and northern Worcester County will see some freezing rain, causing slippery conditions in some spots.

In fact, light icing may even extend down into parts of the lower elevations of Hampshire and Franklin County, and the eastern hilltowns of Franklin County as well.

Rain should clear out by mid to late morning tomorrow, and highs will rise into the 40-45 degree range under mostly cloudy skies.

Hope you have a great night, and be alert to icy road conditions…

FLOOD WATCHES POSTED FOR THE BERKSHIRES, TACONICS, AND LITCHFIELDS… WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES POSTED FOR ALL OF S.VT… FREEZING RAIN AND RAIN TONIGHT INTO TOMORROW AFTER A PARTLY SUNNY, DRY DAY TODAY… MORE RAIN AND SNOW MONDAY INTO TUESDAY BEFORE FAIR WEATHER ATTEMPTS TO GAIN A FOOTHOLD FROM WEDNESDAY INTO THE WEEKEND…(9:45am Sat)

Good morning everybody, we’ve managed to survive another planetary rotation as we swing around our star, while our heliosphere hurtles through the Cosmos around our galactic center. It’s a big Universe out there (and in here), and these points of consciousness called “Life” get to witness it for a while. Now that’s newsworthy.

–As we swing into the Weather Department, we’ve got a decent day today, but clouds will be building.
–Highs will make it into the low to upper 30s from high elevation to low
–An inside runner storm will pass to our northwest allowing for a mainly rainy storm to move in tonight before midnight and leave by early afternoon tomorrow
–Rain will move in after sunset, but for folks in S.VT, and possibly a few localized spots in the northern Berkshires or western hill towns, ice glaze is possible (i.e. freezing rain)
–A continued southwest flow SHOULD warm us up enough to change over to plain rain where any early onset ice forms, but be careful if you’re a hilltowner
–Rain continues overnight and into Sunday, quitting sometime around noon or so, which will beget a mostly cloudy day with highs in the low 40s
–Lows Sunday night will drop to near freezing as more rain showers start to approach from the southwest from system #2
–This system looks to be colder, with a stronger secondary low development off the coast for Monday night into Tuesday, and more available cold air to our north and northwest
–We rain on Monday with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s, but by Monday night we should start to change to snow in the Berkshires/WHs (western hilltowns) and SVT
–By Tuesday morning we should have some mixed rain and snow in the valley, but all snow in the high terrain and light accumulations are possible
–Wed. through Fri. looks fair and dry under partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s

Have a great day!
