Western Mass Weather for November 23, 2018

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES POSTED FOR S.VT EXCEPT FOR EASTERN WINDHAM COUNTY… AFTER A COLD NIGHT TONIGHT, TWO STORM SYSTEMS IMPACT THE REGION WITH RAIN AND A BIT OF ICE IN SVT TOMORROW NIGHT INTO SUN. AM, THEN MORE RAIN MONDAY NIGHT, POSSIBLY CHANGING TO SNOW IN THE BERKSHIRES, SVT, AND WESTERN HILLTOWNS BY TUES. AM WITH SOME ACCUMULATION POSSIBLE… (6:40pm Fri)

Good evening everybody, just a quick, bulleted post. I always wonder how many people see one of my reports on Friday night. Probably not many, but I’m always of the belief that if it helps one person, then it’s worth it, so here goes:

–For tonight, high pressure drifts southeast of our region
–With calmer wind, clear skies, and dry air, radiational cooling meets up with an increasing southwest (i.e milder) flow to split the difference and drop lows into the teens
–For tomorrow, we start with partly to mostly sunny skies early, then high clouds move in during the day, lower, and thicken
–Highs will be in the upper 30s to low 40s, with lows in the 30s tomorrow night as rain moves in
–Expecting about a half to three-quarters of an inch of rainfall tomorrow night into Sunday morning
–Patchy fog will be possible, as will some very localized areas of freezing rain at onset in SVT during the night time. Can’t rule out some glaze in the high terrain of WMass, either, but rain is the rule
–Sunday looks mostly cloudy after some morning rain and fog, with highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s
–Another parent storm passes well to our northwest on Monday, but a secondary coastal storm develops by Monday night
–We will rain on Monday with highs in the 40s, but the coastal storm will pull in colder air as it approaches Cape Cod Monday night into early Tuesday
–Rain could change to snow in S.VT, SW.NH, the Berkshires, Taconics, Litchfields and western hilltowns with some light accumulations possible
–By mid week, we will be colder with highs in the 30s, but fair weather is expected to end the week at this time

Have a great night, and I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

ONE MORE COLD, SUNNY DAY WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A MOSTLY DRY SATURDAY, AND THEN RAIN MOVING IN SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY, AND THEN MONDAY INTO TUESDAY BEFORE CLEARING BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK… (6:30am Fri)

Good morning everybody, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday yesterday, which you might even be extending through the weekend. While the end of the week and first part of the weekend looks pretty good, the end of this weekend into the early-week period will feature mainly rain with a low chance of ice at onset over the high terrain areas.

–For this morning, it’s frigid with temps in the low single digits and even below zero in some spots
–High pressure builds to the south and will help to moderate temps well into the 20s, which is still cold
–At least we’ll have mostly sunny skies today, and mostly clear skies tonight with lows in the teens
–For tomorrow, high pressure continues to track southeast and will result in high temps in the 40s under partly sunny skies
–Clouds will build late in the day, thanks to low pressure passing to our northwest
–Showers could move in by sunset, but definitely after sunset, and it will rain heavy at times
–Lows will drop into the mid 30s for a rainy Saturday night
–Sunday morning will see more rainfall before we get a break for Sunday afternoon and night, with highs in the 40s. Another 1″ of rain is possible, maybe more
–Monday starts off dry, but by afternoon more rain is moving into the region, which will last into Tuesday
–Sunshine looks to return by the middle of the week as we cool back down.

Have a great day!
