A RAINY SATURDAY INTO EARLY SUNDAY MORNING IS ON THE WAY… 1-2″ OF RAINFALL EXPECTED…7:05pm FRI…
Good evening folks, I wanted to post a quick update to say that the forecast is on track, with a storm tracking west of us and swinging a band of heavy rain through the region around and after midnight into Saturday morning, before the rain bands become more showery in nature.
While there might be some lulls at times, I would simply expect a wet day for most of the day, with a reinvigoration of the rain shield by around sunset and overnight into the dawn of Sunday morning, which is when the heaviest rain will work through the region.
Lows tonight will drop into the low to mid 40s with some patchy fog possible, and highs tomorrow will rise into the mid to upper 50s. Lows Saturday night will dip into the upper 40s to low 50s.
A few light showers are possible on Sunday with more clouds than sunshine, and by Halloween evening, we should be mostly dry and in good shape for outdoor activities, though we can’t rule out a shower at that time. Lows will bottom out in the low to mid 40s.
Early next week looks nicer with more sunshine, so get ready for soup weather tomorrow, folks! Have a great night!

DISCUSSION:
We’ve got a very chilly morning to start our day, with temps across the region in the upper 20s over the Berkshires, southwest NH and southern Vermont, into the low to upper 30s across much of the WMass, CMass and northern CT.
Given this, and in combination with patchy dense fog, there are likely to be some slick spots out there as freezing fog puts some ice glaze down onto some surfaces in the form of black ice, so practice a little extra caution.
It’s November next week, folks, and this cold season could end up being front-loaded, so it’s better to gear up for wintry conditions sooner than later, is what I’m telling you this morning.

For the rest of today, our patchy fog will burn off and reveal a rather nice day, as high pressure influence treats us to one more mostly sunny day with highs in the low to mid 50s and a light wind.
For very late today and tonight, clouds will build as a very mature and “vertically-stacked” low center over the lower Mississippi Valley with lazy lobes of energy swirling about lifts northeast toward the eastern Great Lakes overnight. Lows in the WMass region will dip into the upper 30s to mid 40s with patchy fog possible, and showers arriving around or after midnight.
With this low passing to our west, it will send its eastwardly-extended warm front through our region, with a round of showers after midnight and into the first part of Saturday morning – it’ll be wet when we awaken.
Then we should get into a lull at times, with some scattered showers throughout the day, but also some dry times, too, under cloudy skies.
Highs will reach the mid to upper 50s, and we’ll get an east wind to gust to 20mph at times.
Then, we expect a secondary low to develop in this moisture-rich, southerly flow which will run south to north right up the Connecticut River Valley in CT, MA and VT/NH in the evening, bringing a renewed batch of rainfall with heavier showers mixed in, and a thunderstorm possible.
Lows will bottom out into the mid to upper 40s with patchy fog late, and continuing showers into Sunday morning.
For Sunday, that secondary low lifts north, and morning showers should give way to some brightening skies in the afternoon, along with a few spot showers at times, with mild highs into the upper 50s to low 60s.
Halloween activities continue to look weather-supported, despite the chance for a rogue shower here or there. Lows will dip into the low to mid 40s as partly cloudy skies develop.
On Monday, we’ll still be a mild sector before a cold front moves through sometime on Tuesday. Expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the 55-60º range, and lows in the mid to upper 30s.
Tuesday looks a bit cooler and cloudier (highs upper 40s to mid 50s), and sometime by late Tuesday or Tuesday night, a cold front looks to come through, and some of us in the Berkshires and hills may see our first snowflakes flying as it does so with lows in the low to mid 30s.
Wednesday and beyond gets colder, with highs only in the 40s as November starts to snuggle in.
There are also some signals of potential wintry weather around the high terrain of the WMass region up into SVT, so please stay tuned for updates as we get deeper into the Autumn of 2021.
Have a great day, and please consider ordering my 2022 weather calendar this year, the local photos are wonderful this year!
