Good morning everybody, our incoming warm front has moved in at the worst time of day when it’s coldest, and is producing a mix of light rain, freezing rain, and snow across different parts of the greater WMass region.
Slippery areas may have developed or be developing in Franklin County, the Berkshires, and points north into VT and NH, with some other icy pockets possible where it is at or below freezing this morning, so be alert to slippery road ways.
We’ll be getting colder and blustery after a mild day today with several wet weather chances, but before we jump into the details, I’ve got a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, who just opened a new location in West Springfield, MA.

WEATHER BULLETIN:
–The main weather story this morning is icing for the next couple of hours before temps rise behind the front
–Behind this front, The Mildening will get underway, with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s, with balmy southwest wind gusts of 20-30mph!
–Well, balmy is a biiiiig stretch, but you get the idea
–It’ll be mostly cloudy, but it’ll be nice to hit 50º in some spots
–Later today a cold front moves in around sunset and brings some showers with it, that may end as some snow in far northwest MA and SVT with some overnight coatings there
–The big story will be how the wind veers around from the southwest to the northwest and gusts to 30mph by Friday morning with wind chills in the teens region-wide so bundle up tomorrow morning!
–Highs Friday will be in the low to upper 30s for most of us under mostly sunny skies, with some low 40s in northern CT
–At night, lows will drop into the low to mid 20s with a little wave moving through that may bring a few snow showers into Saturday morning
–It’s cool this weekend, with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s Saturday, with similar temps for Sunday though maybe a few degrees warmer
–Skies look partly sunny on average for Saturday, and mostly sunny on Sunday
–Lows will be in the upper teens to 20s Saturday night but Sunday night clouds will be increasing as our next system tracks to our north
–That may start as snow into very early Monday morning but should be mostly a rain event during the day Monday as another warm front comes through and floats us up into the low to mid 50s with showers, then once again colder and blustery Monday night into mid-week
–Another storm signal has surfaced for mid-week, and we can’t rule out wintry potential, so I will monitor and update you as we get closer.
Have a great day, and stay alert to any icy surfaces this morning, especially in northern MA, SVT and SWNH!
