Western Mass Weather for September 6, 2020

[PARTLY SUNNY WITH A COUPLE OF SPRINKLE SPRITZES POSSIBLE… OTHERWISE DRY AND PLEASANT… LABOR DAY LOOKS MOSTLY SUNNY… HUMIDITY AND WARMTH INCREASES TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY… SHOWER CHANCES INCREASE WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY WITH TWO POTENTIAL SYSTEMS… THE FIRST PASSES NORTH OF US THURSDAY AND SPREADS IN SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS… THEN A CUTOFF LOW MAY MOVE THROUGH FRIDAY WITH MORE RAIN BEFORE A DRYING/COOLING TREND ARRIVES NEXT WEEKEND… 8:10AM SUNDAY]

Good morning everybody, we had some overnight light showers scattered about, and some lasted into the early morning today. These were born from a weaker shortwave that has been passing into and through the region that wasn’t originally thought to amount to any precipitation, but a few spots got spritzed.

For today, we will have a mix of clouds and sunshine thanks to this shortwave, and a few sprinkles or light showers may dot the landscape this afternoon, but overall, no big whoop, and most of us stay dry.

Expect highs in the mid to upper 70s and lows in the mid 50s overnight with partly cloudy skies.

That little system gets the boot out to the east, and we close Labor Day Weekend with a mostly sunny, warmer day, with highs in the 75-80º range, and lows near 60º.

For Tuesday, high pressure continues to settle to our south, east of the Mid-Atlantic coastline, which will cause southwest breezes to kick up, and warm us into the upper 70s to mid 80s. Humidity will start to come up as well. Lows on Tuesday will again fall to near 60º.

Wednesday during the day it is a copy of Tuesday, with highs in the low to mid 80s for some sweet late summer warmth and humidity before clouds increase Wednesday night.

We’ll be watching low pressure pass well to our north, while moisture southeast of its cold front will be pressed into the region, causing scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop late Wednesday night through Thursday and into Thursday night.

Highs Thursday will rise into the 75-80º range, and lows will be in the 60s with continued humidity.

For Friday, we’ll watching to see if a cutoff low pressure system tracks through New England to bring another round of rainfall before we start to dry out and cool down next weekend with highs possibly only in the 60s by Sunday.

Have a great day!
