Western Mass Weather for September 21, 2021

7:05A-TUES: ONE LAST HIGH-PRESSURE DAY THEN WE S L O W L Y INCREASE THE CLOUDS, WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWER CHANCES, AND HUMIDITY WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY, WITH HEAVIER RAINS LIKELY THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY AS A BLOCKED-UP PATTERN EVOLVES OVER NEW ENGLAND LATE WEEK… IT’S UNCERTAIN, BUT IT MAY BE SO SLOW MOVING AS TO AFFECT SATURDAY WITH SHOWERS AS WELL… BY EARLY NEXT WEEK, DRIER WEATHER WORKS BACK INTO THE REGION, TEMPS SEASONABLE…

Good morning everybody, while we can’t rule out a spot light shower this afternoon, it looks like after any patchy morning fog we will get to enjoy one last fair weather day before the clouds, showers, and humidity slowly creep into our lives from at least Wednesday through Friday, and possibly into the coming weekend.

We’ll jump into the double–dashed details below, but first let’s get a word from our local and delicious sponsor. #PrepsTheThinSlicedTomatoes

SYNOPSIS:
–We’ve got a few foggy patches out there, and any of those ground clouds will evaporate into The Void from which we all emanate and to which we all return some day
–We’ve got large, strong high pressure out over the Rockies, and strong high pressure over Atlantic Canada that are putting the squeeze play on strong low pressure in the northern Great Lakes
–This is helping to create a notable meridional flow in between (more south to north flow, than west to east, which is zonal)
–This blocky pattern is causing said low pressure area to track very slowly east, which is what is going to aid in our prolonged bout of cloudiness and showeryness (yes, I know that’s not a word)
–For today, we enjoy one last parting kiss of influence from the high to our east, and so a partly sunny day should result with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s
–A spot shower or two are possible, but we should be mostly dry
–For tonight, a couple of showers are possible with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s with patchy fog in spots, under mostly cloudy skies
–Wednesday through Friday will definitely present with little if any sunshine, so cloudy-day freaks like me will be happy (though I like all the kinds of days, duh)
–On Wednesday, a warm front will be approaching the region, and this will help spread scattered showers from south to north into western MA and surrounding areas
–Highs will reach the low to mid 70s under mostly cloudy skies, and humidity will be on the increase
–Lows will drop into the low to mid 60s as temps come up a bit behind the warm front… a few more showers expected
–Thursday will be the day we’re most likely between the warm front to our east and cold front to our west, though admittedly the timing of this entire system is not set in stone, so stay tuned for updates
–Thursday looks quite showery, especially in the afternoon and night into Friday morning, when the bulk of the rain from this system should move through, and it will be heavy at times
–Highs on Thursday will be in the mid 70s with lows in the 60s
–On Friday, rain will HOPEFULLY taper off by early afternoon, but we’ll have to refine that for you as we get closer, meaning it may last quite a bit longer depending on how it evolves over the next few days
–Highs will be in the upper 60s to mid 70s, and by the time the rain is done, many of us may see over an inch of rainfall
–The weekend for now looks pretty nice, but I’m not totally buying that, and feel we need to punt to tomorrow to see how things are looking then

All we have is this present moment, and we know that day is looking pretty sweet, so enjoy your Tuesday, people!
