Good morning everybody, we’ve got some fog out there and a WIDE range of temps once again due to the temperature inversion in place thanks to our ginormous eastern U.S. ridge doming outward to the Cosmos.

This is producing temps in the 30s (and some near freezing in Orange, MA with fog) in lower elevations, which temps in the 40s and 50s in the high terrain, which is evidence of our temperature inversion (i.e. temps usually are warmest at the surface, cooler aloft, but in this case, the vertical temp profile is “inverted”, or reversed).

Any patchy fog (see attached map for recent fog locations) will burn off by mid morning, and temps will soar into the low to upper 70s today under mostly sunny skies. Lows will follow suit over the past couple of nights, with 30s to low 40s in the low terrain, and 40s into the low 50s in the high terrain.

For Tuesday, another warm winner, with highs in the low to upper 70s and lows in the 40s to low 50s.

Wednesday is our final day in this warm stretch, thanks to the big eastern upper level ridge that has been working in concert with surface high pressure to our south and east, pumping in southwesterly warming flow.

Highs on Wednesday should also rise into the mid 60s to low 70s, but it will be clouding up ahead of remnant moisture from Tropical Storm Eta, which will make it quite humid for November’s standards that day. Dewpoint temps should crest the 60º mark!

Showers arrive by afternoon sometime, and pick up intensity overnight, with heavy rain at times. We could see 1-2″ out of this event, still quite needed as we continue to chip away at drought conditions for some folks across the WMass and northern CT regions.

After a rainy Wednesday night with lows in the 50s, we could see rain lingering for a good portion of Thursday with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Rain should relent by Thursday evening, and it will become cooler, with lows in the upper 30s to low 40s.

Friday looks mostly sunny as high pressure from our northwest builds in and presses that cooler, Canadian air southeastward into New England. Highs will only be in the low to mid 50s.

Saturday will be the pick of the weekend with cool, sunny highs in the mid to upper 40s and lows near the freezing mark.

By Sunday, yet another storm system will approach, but this time to our northwest, so it will sweep some showers through by Sunday night into Monday, and the high terrain may mix with snow overnight, though no real accumulation is expected.

Have a great day, and please remember that you can shop locally online and pick up some of my colorful 2021 weather calendars before the sale ends in less than 2 weeks, click below for details, thanks!
