Good morning everybody, our lake effect snow and rain band has stuck its Finger of Condensation smack dab into our regional nose (too much?) this morning, and will be slowly swiping down/south over the next few hours and dissipating as it does so.
Moderate snow was reported in Berkshire County this morning and in the Taconics, so some slippery conditions are possible out there.
For us in the valley, after being very cold last night, enough mild air has worked into the region that we were flipped to rain, so it’s mainly west along the valley floor south of Rt. 2, with some high-elevation exceptions, I imagine.
This whole band will break down as support moves away from it, and sunshine will develop along with northwest winds gusting 20-30mph. It’ll be a tad blustery and cold, but more manageable than yesterday.
After a very cold night tonight, with lows in the low to mid 20s, we begin our ascension to meteorological heaven, as sunshine continues to build under a huge dome of high pressure that develops in the eastern U.S. from Wednesday through this coming weekend into next week.
As such, all I see is sunshine and fair weather ahead with a big warm-up on the way.
Highs on Wednesday will be cool, only in the low to mid 50s with lows in the upper 30s to near 40º.
Thursday through Sunday looks quite mild with highs in the low to mid 60s through late week, and then even the mid to possibly upper 60s by the weekend, which looks amazing.
Fair weather continues into at least early/mid next week before another frontal passage is possible by Wednesday or Thursday.
In closing, don your masks, and get out and VOTE if you haven’t already.
