Good morning everybody, we’ve got some patchy fog this morning, mostly along and east of the CT River.

This will dissipate with time and leave us with a day that features more clouds than sunshine, along with a few spot showers early on thanks to a weak cold front moving through. Highs will reach the 45-50º range.

For tonight, after the front passes, skies will clear and temps will drop into the upper 20s to low 30s for lows.

Sunday looks gorgeous, with high pressure building through the region and heading off to our southeast.

Expect sunny skies and highs in the upper 40s, with lows in the low to mid 30s as clouds increase.

On Monday, the combination of a strong upper level trough (i.e. an area of lower than average pressures a few miles above our heads) swinging into the Ohio Valley, and a strong surface low that is cutoff from the jet stream flow pushing into the Tennessee Valley will join forces and phase together.

This rapidly developing storm system in the southern Ohio Valley and pressing into PA and western NY will join forces with high pressure to our southeast to produce a southerly moisture siphon and wind tunnel, and direct that smack dab into New England for Monday afternoon, night and at least the first half of Tuesday.

Monday morning should be cloudy, with a few showers possible by late morning. Highs will reach the mid to upper 50s with strong southerly and humid flow.

By Monday afternoon, rain, heavy at times will work into the region, and about 1-2″ of rain is expected by Tuesday evening.

In addition, strong wind gusts with the potential for damage and/or power outages (especially east of the I-91 corridor in CMass and northeast CT) will push into the region late Monday afternoon and especially Monday night.

Southerly wind gusts could reach the 40-60mph range (lower end of that range west, higher range east), and lows will only rest into the 45-50º range… which is what we expect for today’s highs!!

Another mild day on Tuesday with highs again in the mid to upper 50s with showers in the morning should lead to a mostly cloudy afternoon.

Lows will be near freezing as our storm pulls away to the northeast.

Wednesday through Friday looks to feature fair, but colder weather, with highs in the 35-40º range in the high terrain and 40-45º range in the valley, with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s.

Yet another rainstorm is possible next Saturday afternoon into next Sunday, and some colder air looks to be involved, so can’t rule out a mix with snow for areas of southern VT or northwest MA.

Have a great day, and maybe get some comfy-warm hoodies, sweatshirts or long sleeves for the incoming cold season below, thanks!
