Western Mass Weather for November 28, 2018

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES CONTINUE FOR WESTERN FRANKLIN COUNTY, THE BERKSHIRES, TACONICS, AND SOUTHERN GREEN MOUNTAINS… MORE ACCUMULATING SNOW IN THESE AREAS TODAY… WINDY CONDITIONS TONIGHT AS LOW DEEPENS AND PULLS AWAY… MORE RAIN SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY… UNCLE… (6:15am Wed)

Good morning everybody, snow showers will continue today as lake effect bands combine with upslope flow over western-facing slopes of the aforementioned mountains and hilly terrain. Highs today will be in the mid to upper 30s.

An additional 1-4″ is possible, and some coatings can’t be ruled out in eastern Franklin County and the northern Worcester hills.

My friends, we here in the valley live in a zone I affectionately refer to as the Western Mass Snow Lovers Triangle of Disappointment. This is primarily due to downsloping flow from west to east off of the Berkshires, and descending into the valley. This is a drying flow, but as it rises back up east of the CT River some additional snow showers are possible there, as are very light accumulations.

For tonight, snow showers end, and clouds start to break up a bit. Lows will be near freezing as northwest winds start blowing 20-30mph which will continue into Thursday.

Thursday is partly to mostly sunny, but blustery. HIghs will be in the upper 30s with lows in the 20s.

Friday should be partly sunny but a weak system may zip through bringing some rain and snow showers with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20as.

Saturday will cloud up as the day progresses, and rain will be moving in during the afternoon and evening, lasting into Sunday. Highs will warm from the upper 30s Saturday to the 40s on Sunday.

Even though the pattern is changing to a west-to-east zonal flow off of the Pacific Ocean, the storm train continues. I’m as sick of it as you are, so you’re preaching to the choir.

Hang in there, enjoy your lunch, squeeze your loved ones, hold the door for somebody, smile at a stranger, pet your cat or dog, hold the door for the somebody (did I already say that?), give thanks to the Cosmos.

No Cosmos, no ability to complain about the weather on Facebook. #FactsAreStubbornThings
