Good morning folks, we’re in the warm sector this morning with many folks in the 40s and low 50s. These cold-season warm days are fleeting so get outside at some point for at least a 10-minute walk if you can – The Weather Nut implores you!
But all good things (well, ALL things) come to an end, and rain will sweep into the region this evening and overnight with some snow mixed in, along with a blustery Friday, dry but cold weekend, and rainy Monday. There’s lots to run through, but before we do, I’ve got a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, who just opened a new location in West Springfield, MA.
A NOTE FROM OUR SPONSOR:
DHTWN Is Sponsored by Members, Patrons & Tandem Bagel Company: No matter the weather, Tandem Bagel is always there for you at several valley locations to make your mornings brighter! With bagels baked fresh daily, house-whipped cream cheese, coffee, and tons of lunch options, Tandem is the perfect quick stop for lunch, breakfast, or a coffee and bagel to go. Find them in Easthampton, Northampton, Hadley, Florence (and now West Springfield!), or use their super-streamlined online ordering tool by visiting their website: https://www.tandembagelco.com
LUNAR ECLIPSE TONIGHT!
We’re going to be threading the needle tonight as the cold front tracks through the region. Some of us (mainly east of the I-91 corridor) will more likely than not have too many clouds around during the optimal viewing time of 3:30am to 5:00am when the eclipse maximizes BEFORE astronomical twilight begins.
Astronomical twilight is when the dawn first begins to slowly brighten the sky as we turn once again to face our star.
Below is a link to some more eclipse info, but I think areas along and west of the I-91 corridor and along and south of Rt. 2 stand the best chance for getting the clearest views of the lunar eclipse.

WEATHER BULLETIN:
–Good morning, folks, The Mildening is real and will be enjoyed by the good denizens of the western MA region and all of southern New England
–Great mirth, joy and merriment will overspread our hills and dales, with music breaking out everywhere (I’ll be on bass)
–Our own personal utopia will manifest and all of the world’s problems will vanish…. oh wait, what’s that? I need to drink some coffee and wake up? #GulpsSomeCoffee #SnapsOutOfIt #ContinuesWeatherReport
–Our warm front fully makes it north of our region today, and a gorgeous mostly sunny day with highs in the low to mid 60s will be the result, woo hoo!
–I wouldn’t be surprised to see some upper 60s and a few folks approaching 70º, so get outside and soak it up summah lovahs, this is your (fleeting) moment!
–Quasi-balmy southwest gusts of up to 25mph are also expected
–Clouds increase late today as a sharp cold front tracks east
–Showers may arrive in the Berkshires before 7pm or 8pm, but most of the showers move through our region from west to east between 8pm and 4am
–Temps will drop rapidly with lows making it into the low to mid 30s, and some rain showers will turn to snow showers before it quits, but no accumulation is expected as of this writing
–Friday is colder, blustery, a totally different day!
–Highs will only reach the upper 30s to mid 40s with northwest wind gusts to 30mph, so bundle up peeps. At least it will be mostly sunny…
–Friday night is quite cold down into the low 20s, mostly clear
–The weekend looks dry, with more sun Saturday, and more clouds Sunday
–Saturday highs will be in the 40-45º range, and Sunday’s highs in the 45-50º range with lows in the 20s Saturday night and near 30º Sunday night as clouds increase and showers arrive after midnight
–Monday features a big storm tracking northwest of us, which will sweep a big frontal boundary through and plenty of rainfall that will last into Monday night with highs in the 40s, with some rain mixing with snow at night
–Tuesday and beyond is still murky meteorologically, although Thanksgiving continues to look seasonably cool and dry
–However, I will have to update around that Tuesday to Wednesday timeframe which could still contain additional stormy mischief.
Have a great day, folks, and remember that with the sale ending **this Sunday night** my 2022 calendar can serve as a useful holiday gift for friends, family, employees, organizations, or colleagues… or you can pick one up for yourself before the sale ends.
