Good morning folks, we’re quite cold this morning, with some low 20s in a few spots, though most of us are in the 25-30º range – still, chilly!
We’ve got rain coming through Thursday night with a cold front and a brief change to snow for some, and even more storminess early next week before Thanksgiving that may impact travel, but before we jump into all of the details below, I’ve got a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, who just opened a new location in West Springfield, MA.
A NOTE FROM OUR SPONSOR:
DHTWN Is Sponsored by Members, Patrons & Tandem Bagel Company: No matter the weather, Tandem Bagel is always there for you at several valley locations to make your mornings brighter! WEATHER BULLETIN:
–Good morning, folks, for the moment a lot of us have clear skies, but clouds will build today as a warm front approaches from the west
–The clouds are due to the fact that colder air is tougher to dislodge, so warm air floats right up and over the cold air, producing clouds (mid to high level ones at first, then lower ones tonight)
–Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s with sun early, and clouds building as the day wears on
–For tonight, clouds thicken, and temps will stop falling once they reach about the 40º mark or so, and even rise overnight into the dawn, when some spots could reach 50º!
–For Thursday, we’ve got a sweet day ahead with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s, and perhaps a few 67º or 68º readings will be seen as well
–Alas, our residency in the warm sector will be short-lived, as clouds build back in again late in the day and evening ahead of a sharp cold front that will be barreling east, draped southward off of a Manitoba Mauler (not to be confused with an Alberta Clipper) that will be racing east through southern Canada
–Btw, a Manitoba Mauler is not a thing, but it IS a thing in my nutcake brain!
–How about a Saskatchewan Screamer? Works for me.
–Getting back to reality, we will see rain showers work through the region Thursday night, arriving between 9pm and midnight, and then mixing with or changing to snow for folks in northwest MA and southern VT with some coatings before ending by around dawn with lows in the low to mid 30s
–We’ll see about a quarter inch of rain from this frontal passage, maybe up to 0.40″ in some spots at the most
–Friday will be colder than today! Highs only in the upper 30s to mid 40s, and maybe only mid 30s for SVT
–Upslope and/or lake effect snow showers will be possible in the Berkshires/SVT/western hills Friday for a time as well
–Lows Friday night will be wicked cold in the low 20s with snow showers ending in the Berkshires
–The weekend looks nice!
–Saturday is the pick as high pressure works through the region with highs in the low to mid 40s under mostly sunny skies and lows in the 20s
–More clouds build Sunday and temps will be up a touch, landing in the mid to upper 40s, possibly 50º with lows near freezing as clouds thicken at night with showers before midnight
–The late Sunday night to late Tuesday timeframe (that particular 48 hours) carries a lot of uncertainty with it
–It is looking stormy to some degree, with precip type mainly as rain Sunday night into Monday, but we can’t rule out wintry precipitation by Monday night or Tuesday (even lasting into early Wednesday morning), so stay tuned for updates on that period.
–In fact, Tuesday looks quite cold with highs only in the 30s possibly, so we can’t rule out winter storminess before Thanksgiving
–Will it be a white Thanksgiving? Probably not, but we can’t rule it out yet
–Thanksgiving itself and the afternoon before, at the moment, looks seasonably cool and dry, so we have that going for us!
Have a great day, folks, and remember that with the sale ending this Sunday night, my 2022 calendar can serve as a useful holiday gift for friends, family, employees, organizations, or colleagues… or you can pick one up for yourself before they’re unavailable. Thanks!
