——————————-
Good morning everybody, we’ve got a beautiful day ahead after our morning patchy fog burns off.
Highs will reach the low to mid 40s, maybe some upper 40s in northern CT and out near Worcester. We’ll enjoy mostly sunny skies, with some fair weather clouds possible in the afternoon.
Lows tonight will VERY cold as wind calms, air dries, and clouds clear, maximizing radiational cooling. Some folks may cool into the upper teens for lows, on up to the mid 20s in some valley locations.
For Sunday, highs will reach the upper 40s to low 50s with lows in the 30s.
As for the weather details, any morning sunny breaks quickly fill in with clouds as a warm front/cold front combo careens eastward as a low pressure system from which those frontal boundaries are draped strengthens rapidly to our northwest as it passes to our north, and tilts negatively as it passes our longitude.
A powerful low level jet streak (i.e. faster moving river of air about a mile or so aloft) will also track through the region, possibly accompanied by a developing secondary storm.
All of this points to a band of heavier showers and downpours working through the region ahead of an incoming cold front by mid to late Sunday afternoon, with thunder possible, and strong wind gusts mixing to the surface out of the southeast, blowing 30-50mph at times, and possibly a little higher than that.
This is a wind direction that is fairly rare, which means trees haven’t built up as much opposing strength in their tree fibers over the years, so some isolated power outages and/or tree damage is possible by sunset tomorrow.
After that burst of weather passes through, we should see winds kick around to the west and gust 20-30mph overnight, with lows again in the 30s.
For Monday, a rather blustery day is expected with west winds still gusting up to 30mph or so at times, and with highs in the 40s under partly to mostly sunny skies. Lows will drop to near freezing as clouds build late from the lake effect snow machine that will be marching snow showers toward the Hudson Valley in eastern NY.
For Tuesday, scattered snow showers are expected in the Taconics, Berkshires, Litchfields, and SVT, and some should spill into the western hilltowns and possibly southwest NH.
Highs will only be in the upper 30s to low 40s, and lows will drop into the low 20s as the lake effect turns off until another day.
For Wednesday, it will be the coldest of the upcoming stretch. Highs will only reach the low to mid 30s for a true winter day!! At least mostly sunny skies are expected. Lows plummet to near 20º.
The late week period looks cool to cold as well, with highs 35-40º on Thursday, and in the 40s on Friday, but fair weather is expected.
Have a great day, and please consider my 2021 Weather Calendar with amazing fan photos this year… sale ends a week from tomorrow!
