Good morning folks, we’ve got some legit November weather on the way today, through the weekend, and next week, so let’s jump into the details.
For today, we have some very light showers or drizzle ongoing in the Berkshires, Taconics, and southern VT. Some temps are near or just below the freezing mark, so some short-duration light icing or flurries are possible, but temps should rise shortly and end that very minor impact.
We have an upper level trough (i.e. are of lower pressure aloft that fosters inclement weather) swinging east through the Great Lakes and negatively tilting (i.e. axis oriented northwest to southeast), and a stalled frontal boundary to our south.
We also have the upper level jet stream right over us, so all of these will help produce atmospheric lift, and resultant scattered showers developing today, and ending by tonight.
Not much rain is expected, and some areas (especially the further north and west you go, AFTER this early morning light precip) staying fairly dry. Not a big event, maybe a tenth to quarter inch of rainfall for some folks.
Highs today will only reach the low to mid 40s, with lows tonight in the low to mid 30s.
For Saturday, sunshine rules as high pressure dries the atmosphere out at the surface and overhead. Some fair weather clouds possible in the afternoon giving some of us partly sunny sky cover at times. Highs will reach the mid to upper 40s, which is close to seasonable for this time of year, maybe a little below average.
A very cold and clear night is ahead for Saturday night, with calm winds, dry air, and still wind, temps plummet into the low to mid 20s.
For Sunday, more rawness is on the way. Maybe we get a nice sunrise, and some early morning partly sunny sky cover, but clouds build in QUICKLY Sunday morning, and showers arrive by early to mid afternoon.
Highs will only reach the upper 40s to low 50s.
It could rain heavily at times Sunday night, as a strong storm passes to our northwest. Lows will bottom out in the mid to upper 30s.
Rain and clouds abate by early Monday morning, and full sunshine should develop behind this departing cold front, with highs in the mid to upper 40s. Monday looks breezy, but no wind advisories are expected. Lows will dip down to the freezing mark.
For Tuesday, we could see some lake effect snow showers in the Berkshires, Taconics, Litchfields, and southern Greens, spilling into our western hilltowns, especially the first half of the day before they abate.
Highs on Tuesday will be in the low to mid 40s, but then another cold front will swing through, and then it will get unseasonably cold. The roller coaster continues!
Lows Tuesday night will be in the low to mid 30s with highs on Wednesday only in the low to mid 30s for a fully wintry day!
Late week moderates a touch, but still quite cool to end the week with nice weather Thursday and some showers possible by Friday/Saturday.
Have a great day, and remember that my 2021 Weather Calendar sale ends just a week from this Sunday!
