———————————————–

Good evening everybody, just a quick update tonight as we’ve got fair weather moving through tonight and all of tomorrow.

SUMMARY
–Lows will drop into the teens, causing black ice as today’s snow melt refreezes solid
–Saturday is truly going to be gorgeous!
–As high pressure moves overhead and off to our east and northeast, mostly sunny skies will dominate with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s
–We’ll be partly cloudy early tomorrow evening, and then cloud up at night
–Still, it will allow temps to drop into the mid 20s before precipitation moves in during the pre-dawn hours of Sunday morning
–This ensures that we will start as a period of accumulating snow, changing to sleet from south to north
–There will be a race between precip moving from southwest to northeast, milder air moving in a mile up changing us from snow to ice, and a strong low level jet streak producing more intense rising air which will make precip heavier during the early morning
–How these three main atmospheric players work together and with which timing is going to be fun to watch
–Southeast winds could gust over 30mph, especially in the east slopes of the Berkshires, so that needs to be watched as well
–I still think a coating up to 3″ of snow is possible across the region, with the highest amounts in SVT, the northern Berkshires, and western Franklin County and lesser amounts elsewhere, with some places in northern CT just seeing sleet at onset
–Any snow changes to sleet as the morning wears on, on Sunday, and then changes to plain rain in some areas, and freezing rain or freezing drizzle in high terrain areas
–Precip lightens considerably by early afternoon, and some drizzle or freezing drizzle, or scattered light showers are possible
–Sundays highs should reach the mid to upper 30s with lows in the low 30s as scattered mixed rain and snow showers bring the storm (and much of the winter of 2018 and 2019) to an end
–Next Monday is milder, either side of 40 degrees with a passing shower and partly sunny skies
–Tuesday sees one brief cooler shot with highs in the 30s before we milden right up for late week, with more rain possible late week

I hope you have a great night, and please note that my 2019 Annual Support Drive ends THIS Sunday night.

LOW AIR TEMPS: Lows should drop into the mid to upper teens region-wide

SKIES: Mostly sunny

–OUR STAR WILL SET AT: 5:48pm this evening
–OUR MOON WILL SET AT: 7:48pm this evening
–OUR MOON WILL RISE AT: 7:54am tomorrow morning
–MOON PHASE: Waxing Crescent

SUMMARY:
–Good morning folks, it’s wicked cold outside, so get out there and soak it up!! Oh yeah!!! #NOT
–If we’re lucky, this is the last wicked cold day until next winter
–The next two days are beautiful!
–Mostly sunny skies and light winds will rule, along with milder temps!
–For tomorrow, highs should reach the 35-40 degree mark, and lows will be in the 20s as clouds increase
–Sunday is looking quite snowy at the moment, and a coating up to 3″ of snowfall from northeast CT up to southern VT is looking probable
–Any snow should change to ice from south to north between 9am and noon
–There will be a race between a low level jet trying to cause strong lifting and hence heavier/steadier snow which could bring a slight snow thump, along with southeast winds which should make it come down for a brief time
–At the same time, dry air moving in from the west, so heavier/steadier precip ends by noon or early afternoon

WHEN DOES THE SNOW START?
–Snow starts between 3-6am, and the heaviest precip should end by early afternoon, with showers thereafter
–About a third to half an inch of liquid water equivalent will fall in all the precip type forms by Monday morning
–In summary, a slippery Sunday morning looks pretty likely, with improving conditions for some by noon (especially south of the Pike) with just plain rain showers
–Icing may last a little bit into the first part of the afternoon in the northern Berkshires, SVT and northwestern hilltowns with rain elsewhere
–Highs on Sunday will be in the low 30s to upper 30s
–Sunday night lows will reach the freezing mark: some 25 degrees colder than our current morning
–Milder and fair weather for the following 3 days through Wednesday looks likely with highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s, except for hovering in the mid to upper 30s Tuesday for a day
–Rain is possible by late next week with mild temps likely near 50 degrees
