DAILY REPORT
Good morning everybody, a few of us got thunder-boomed out of bed this morning, mostly in the Taconics and Berkshires as a few storms fired up along with some convective downpours.
Those are east of the I-91 corridor heading into CMass. The rest of the morning will feature a few more showers scattered about, but a big punch of mid-level dry air has worked into the storm and is heading into our region, which will take the mid-afternoon lull I alluded to yesterday and push it up closer to late morning or noon.
A few isolated showers or drizzle patches are possible, but we’ll also have a drier day during Saturday’s daylight than expected yesterday.
Highs should reach the low to mid 50s, with maybe some upper 40s north of the Rt. 2 corridor.
By this evening, our cold front will be approaching from the west, and will combine with enough wind shear and lift to help produce a broken line of showers, downpours and thunderstorms.
While the best chance for a severe thunderstorm due to high wind gusts lies well west of us, these storms may have enough strength remaining to produce strong gusty winds and torrential rain when they come through between 8-11pm tonight, so keep that in mind, and keep an ear west.
After those go through the region, lows will drop into the mid 40s and patchy fog will be possible by morning.
On Sunday, with the surface system well northeast of us, we have the upper level system that will still need to work through the region, and these tend to produce more clouds over the high terrain than the Pioneer Valley.

So, while we can expect a mostly cloudy day over the Berkshires, western hilltowns, SVT, we should have more of a partly sunny sky in the CT River Valley and points south and east, with everywhere seeing a few showers by afternoon after the clouds bubble up due to the surface heating by the Sun.
Highs will reach the upper 40s to mid 50s with lows in the low to mid 30s as clouds break up and the stars are revealed.
For Monday through Wednesday, it’s looking like fair and seasonable weather ahead due to the influence of high pressure with plenty of sunshine, and highs in the mid 40s to low 50s with lows either side of the freezing mark by a couple of degrees or so.
It’s very late Wednesday night into Thursday that looks stormy and rainy, and we could even start as mixed precipitation in areas north of the Rt. 2 corridor.
However, any winter precipitation potential does not look very impactful as of now, as everyone would flip to rain by later Thursday morning. Highs will reach the upper 40s to low 50s.
Friday looks like an improvement with partly sunny skies developing, and by tomorrow we’ll start to get a bead on next weekend.
I will update later this afternoon on our thunderstorm potential this evening and keep you updated.
Have a great day, and remember…
