Good morning everybody, how’s that hydrating going? Water… so so good, viruses find hydrated environments more reprehensible than dried out bodies.
Seriously, hydrate folks.
And get out of the house into Nature, fresh air, good for the lungs, as this thing is a respiratory targeter.
Water and fresh Nature air… It does the body good.
Moving on… we’ve got a gorgeous day ahead, so get out and get some Vitamin D, dammit!
High pressure will continue to track through the region today, and will produce mostly sunny skies for much of the day with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s.
High Clouds will build in late, signaling the approach of an incoming storm system that arrives during the pre-dawn hours of tomorrow morning with snow and rain, and ends as rain by early afternoon.
Before that happens, for tonight, departing high pressure will leave a cold air damming signal in place with northeasterly cold drainage into the WMass region. This will allow lows to dip into the low 30s with dry air in place.
Our storm system will then track northeast into the Ohio Valley and likely redevelop south of New England. This is a compact, fast-moving, but fairly juicy little wave.
When precipitation starts between 3-5am tomorrow morning, it may become moderate to borderline heavy in intensity, and that could cause evaporative cooling which would expand the snow/rain line south down to about the MA/CT border, except for much of Litchfield County in northwest CT, where the snow/rain line should press even further south.
By dawn, it should be snowing in a lot of places, with the potential for mixed snow/rain in much of northern CT up into the Springfield metro area of central Hampden County.
Snow will accumulate mainly on grassy surfaces, but some of the higher elevation roads in the western and eastern hilltowns, northern Worcester County, Berkshires, the Litchfields, Taconics, southern VT and southwest NH could even become snow-covered for a while, making travel slick if you have to get out for any reason.
Any snow will likely change to rain showers by late morning and it all quits and ships out of here by early to mid afternoon.
As for snow totals, it looks like 1-3″ of wet snow is possible for the western and eastern hilltowns (more like an inch or so for the eastern hills like Shutesbury, Wendell, etc), northern Worcester County, Berkshires, the Litchfields, Taconics, southern VT, southwest NH , with a coating to an inch or so in the Pioneer Valley, southern half of Worcester County, with some coatings in northern CT possible.
Highs tomorrow will be near 40 degrees.
After an afternoon lull, showers will be possible as a warm front sails through the region Thursday night, which will hold temps up, keeping them near 40 degrees for lows.
By Friday, temps will soar into the 65-70º range with clouds and scattered showers, and even a thunderstorm possible by afternoon as a cold front drags through the region, which will send lows dropping to the freezing mark.
The weekend looks awesome, seasonably cold, and mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 40s and lows in the 20s, with the next chance of morning snow changing to rain late Monday night into early Tuesday morning.
Have a great day, take care, and please consider chipping in even small donations (monthly or annually) to support my work here. I still need your help as my Member/Support Drive winds to a close this coming Sunday, March 22… anything helps the cause of sustaining this resource, thank you.
