Western Mass Weather for March 18, 2019

CONTINUED COLD FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW BEFORE WE MILDEN UP A BIT… SOME RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS VERY EARLY THURSDAY MORNING INTO THURSDAY…LOOKING SWEET FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY (6:15am Monday)

Good morning everybody, we’re in a dry and cool pattern right now, and I have to say, it is most welcome.

It’s good to drive the hastening of seasonal flood waters from northern and central New England melt/runoff. A metered melt allows the volume to be contained by the rivers through which it flows.

It’s also good for mud season, to help the foster the seep needed from last year’s historical rainfall that froze groundwater in place by November, or at least was suspended more toward the surface than average.

Anyway, we need the dryness for a bit.

SUMMARY
–High pressure dominates the next few days before a frontal boundary and northern stream disturbance enters our picture Thursday. Until then, it’s quite dry
–I am not going to post #MapCandy that shows that there “might” be a storm for Thursday. It’s clickbait, and the storm is quite likely to be shunted southeast and out to sea, so i don’t see the point
–For today, highs will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s under mostly sunny skies
–Lows tonight will drop into the teens, so it will be quite chilly
–Tuesday and Tuesday night is a repeat of today and tonight in terms of temps and sky cover
–Wednesday is milder, with temps well into the 40s under mostly sunny skies
–We may be dealing with some scattered snow showers by the pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning, turning to rain showers on Thursday as a cold front approaches
–South winds may gust to 30 mph at times as well
–I will update on this piece as we get closer
–Friday through Sunday look mild and fair, with a one-day cool shot for Saturday

Have a great day!
