Good morning everybody, the fog is at it again this morning! It is dense in some spots, notably in Willimantic CT and Worcester MA regional airports in the southeastern part of the greater WMass region where visibilities are at or under a quarter mile.

Temps are mainly in the 30s and low 40s with some folks either side of freezing in the Berkshires, western hilltowns and SVT.

As for our weather going forward, we could see some partly sunny breaks north of the Rt. 2 corridor, but clouds are going to rule the roost today thanks to our coastal storm passing southeast of us.

While any showers that fall shouldn’t be a big deal, the storm’s northwestern flank should loft some scattered showers into the region, arriving by late morning south and early/mid afternoon north.

These will be light to moderate, generally, and scattered, and under a tenth of an inch should fall for most, maybe a bit more in spots in northern CT.

In fact, it may end up being a mostly cloudy and fairly dry day well north and west with a few isolated showers along and north of the Rt. 2 corridor.

Highs will generally pull up into the 55-60º range. Lows will dip into the upper 30s to mid 40s under mostly cloudy skies with patchy fog AGAIN late, due to increasing dewpoint temps moving in with our one-day warmth on our doorstep.

Sadly, viewing of the Full Worm Moon might be tough tonight, but hopefully we somehow get a glimpse.

Friday features patchy fog in the morning, but then we’ll be off to a sweet Spring day with mostly sunny skies developing, southwest flow, and highs in the 60s to low 70s.

Could we see a few spots in northern CT hit the mid 70s?

It’s possible!

Enjoy it while you can, because it’s a one-day deal, with more clouds moving in Friday night as lows settle down into the mid 40s, with showers expected before dawn.

Saturday looks rainy, showery, and cool with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s – in other words, pretty ideal for soup-making on our last day of Astronomical Winter.

Showers should last into the evening and abate sometime after midnight with lows in the mid 40s.

It looks like up to an inch of rain could fall from this system, but certainly a half inch to three-quarters of an inch should be quite common. I will update on precip totals by tomorrow.

In astronomical news, the Vernal Equinox will pass through at 11:24am on Sunday morning – Spring is here!

For Sunday, we should still be under the influence of an upper trough and those setups usually mean broad low-level instability capable of producing a mix of a few breaks of sun, mostly cloudy skies, and scattered showers, with highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s with lows in the mid to upper 30s with clearing skies as the trough vamooses outta here.

Monday and Tuesday look fair, sunny, and should feature highs in the 40s to low 50s.

Then we look to mid-week where another storm system should be knocking on our door.

There does look like some cold air will be nearby, so we have to stay alert to elevation-based winter weather potential, so stay tuned for updates.
