ASIDE FROM SOME LATE WEEK SHOWERS, WE ARE MOVING INTO A DRY PERIOD OF WEATHER, WHICH GIVEN OUR EXCEPTIONALLY WET SUMMER AND FALL OF 2018, IS MOST WELCOME… (7:00am Saturday)
Good morning everybody, I am not feeling well and so this report will likely be shorter, and the only one for today, especially given the dearth of weather drama over the upcoming period.
SUMMARY
–With the cold front responsible for our thunderstorms last night well off to the east, cold air advection begins today
–Westerly winds will gust 20-30mph generally south of the Pike, with up to 40mph gusts possible north of it, especially in the high terrain
–Expect partly sunny skies, breezy conditions, and highs in the upper 30s to low 40s
–Cold air really sinks into the region tonight with continued westerly gusts 20-30mph as lows drop into the upper teens to low 20s
–This will produce wind chills down into the single digits at times, so a very cold night is in store
–In addition, we go back into the snow melt / refreeze cycle each night through Wednesday morning, so watch out for black ice or slippery driveways/paths
–Monday and Tuesday are copies of each other, highs 35-40, mostly sunny, calm, with lows in the teens under mostly clear skies
–High pressure and a large trough inducing this colder air through Tuesday night pushes east and away from the region by mid week
–Then we get milder for Wednesday through the end of the week with highs 45-50 degrees and lows in the upper 20s to low 30s
–Some late week showers from a northern system are possible
–The signal from last week re: a coastal storm falls apart, as said trough suppresses that storm south and east away from our region
Have a great day and bundle up!!
