Western Mass Weather for March 13, 2020

[MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN SHOWERS THIS MORNING AND INTO EARLY TO MID AFTERNOON, THE BLUSTERY THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY… 7:10AM FRIDAY] Good morning everybody, we have some dynamic weather working through the region this morning. The Bulletization Mobile (TM) is not only parked outside my door, it pulled right up to my right ear and is honking so loudly that if I want to protect my hearing for future musical pursuits, I best get to bulletization operations forthwith!!!

SUMMARY
–A cold front is approaching the region this morning, some patchy fog has developed
–As such, strong, moist southerly flow is being siphoned northward along the eastern side of the front, producing scattered moderate to heavy rainfall
–These showers have a summery, convective feel, and while we can’t rule out a few thunder rumbles south of the Pike, they should generally stay down in southern CT, southeastern NY, and northern NJ, extending into RI and southeast MA
–Rain will fall with varying intensities through the noon hour, then should start to break up as we head into early afternoon, to as late as mid afternoon
–Southeast winds will be gusty in parts of the Berkshires, Taconics, western hilltowns and southern Greens mainly, and possibly in other high terrain areas of the WMass region
–After rain quits in the afternoon, sunshine should breakout by about the 4-6pm timeframe, maybe a touch earlier
–Total rainfall between a third and three-quarters of an inch, maybe a few isolated areas approaching an inch of water
–Highs today will reach the mid to upper 50s
–After the front passes through winds will gust 30-40mph out of the west this afternoon and evening
–We’ll clear out tonight with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s with west winds continuing to gust up to 35mph at times, it will be bluster and cold tonight with wind chills by morning into the teens at times
–For Saturday, a fresh Canadian air mass arrives, and enough of a pressure gradient will exist to produce blustery westerlies gusting up to 30mph at times with highs in the low to upper 40s under mostly sunny skies
–Lows will drop into the low to mid 20s
–Sunday looks seasonably cold with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s under mostly sunny skies as high pressure crests to our north, producing northerly flow and mostly sunny skies, winds will slacken
–Lows Sunday night will be in the mid to upper teens as radiational cooling maximizes
–Monday represents one more fair weather day with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 40s with lows in the upper 20s, with clouds increasing late in the night
–Another warm front approaches Tuesday and may start as some early morning snow and sleet before changing to rain showers during the day with highs in the upper 40s with fair weather expected Wednesday, and slightly milder temps

Have a great day, take deep breaths, stretch your body, stay hydrated, take your multi-vitamins, practice good hygiene by washing your hands thoroughly, reduce stress whenever possible, stay hydrated, stay hydrated, oh, and also, stay hydrated.
