Western Mass Weather for March 12, 2019

A COLD NIGHT AHEAD WORTHY OF WOOD STOVES AND FIREPLACES… SMOKE ‘EM IF YA GOT ‘EM… SOME LIGHT WINTRY MIX POSSIBLE VERY LATE WED. NIGHT INTO VERY EARLY THURS. AM (NO BIG WHOOP)… VERY MILD AND RAINY FRIDAY, COOLER THIS WEEKEND, AND LIGHT SNOW POSSIBLE SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY…. (6:30pm Tues)

Good evening everybody, no big load of details tonight, just some bullet points about our upcoming sensible weather, which looks rather tame compared to what we’ve been through. Friday into Saturday could produce some drama, but otherwise, we’re coasting a bit, which is a nice reprieve after this cold season.

SUMMARY
–Winds will continue to slacken tonight, and with clear skies and dry air, radiational cooling will produce low temps in the teens so do some bundle-upping if you’re heading out
–For tomorrow, high pressure crests overhead and produces a partly sunny day with highs in the low to mid 40s
–Clouds will build in the afternoon, and frontal boundary will move at us late Wednesday night and touch off some light, scattered mixed showers
–Lows will be in the 20s, so snow, sleet or freezing rain is possible, but should be light and isolated
–After that feature passes us by, Thursday turns into a robust southwesterly flow with partly sunny skies and highs cresting the 50 degree mark!
–Lows Thursday night will stay above freezing, somewhere in the mid to upper 30s and showers of rain will be possible late
–Friday will have us in the grips of a southerly, moist, and warm flow
–Highs will be well into the 50s, pushing toward 60 degrees possibly in southern CMass or northeastern CT, with rain, heavy at times
–Winds may gust pretty strongly in heavier downpours, as well
–This all precedes a cold frontal passage which moves through Friday night, when lows will drop into the mid to upper 30s with rain quitting between 9pm-midnight
–Saturday and Sunday look like partly sunny days with cooler highs in the mid 40s Saturday and ow 40s Sunday
–Lows will drop into the 20s each night
–By Sunday night, we have to watch for a Clipper low which may produce light accumulating snow across the region
–However, this is not looking like a big deal, and may turn out to be not much ado about nothing

Ok, I hope you have a great night, and while I’ll put a halt to it by tomorrow night, I am floating my Annual Support Drive link out there because some folks told me they intended to support my work this year but missed the deadline, so the link is below for those folks who want to back my work here. Thanks!
