Western Mass Weather for June 3, 2020

[A FEW SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON, ESPECIALLY SOUTH OF THE RT. 2 CORRIDOR… WARM AND MOSTLY SUNNY TOMORROW WITH HUMIDITY BUILDING LATE THROUGH SATURDAY… SOME SHOWERS AND MAYBE A STORM FRIDAY, BUT BETTER CHANCE NOW RESTS WITH SATURDAY AS A COLD FRONT SWEEPS THE REGION… SOME STORMS MAY BE STRONG/SEVERE… DRIER, LESS WARM SUNDAY WITH A FEW POP UP SHOWERS POSSIBLE… TROPICAL SYSTEM IN THE GULF MAY GET SWEPT UP MID/LATE NEXT WEEK AND RAIN OUT OVER NEW ENGLAND… 7:40AM WEDNESDAY]

Good morning everybody, our morning sunny sprites will give way to more clouds by the noon hour as a system passes largely to our southwest.

Still, a batch of showers is expected to track northwest to southeast through portions of WMass and CT, mainly south of the Rt. 2 corridor.

Highs today will reach the mid to upper 70s, and maybe hit 80 degrees in northern CT. West winds will gust to 20mph at times.

Any showers end later this afternoon and early evening, with lows dropping to the mid to upper 50s under partly cloudy skies.

For Thursday, light southwest flow and mostly sunny skies will combine to produce highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s for a very warm, lovely day. Pick of the week! Lows will drop to near 60 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

We then enter a prefrontal trough area on Friday, with much more humid conditions. It should be partly sunny, but isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible. Highs will reach the mid to upper 80s and dewpoints will be in the 60s. Lows will only be in the 60s with scattered showers expected.

Saturday is the wettest day of the next 7, as a cold front sweeps the region.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected, and a few strong storms are possible. Highs will reach the upper 70s to low 80s with humid conditions, but we should start to dry out at night, with lows in the 50s.

Sunday is the pick of the weekend for sure, with a drier, cooler air mass moving in. This will create partly to mostly sunny skies, and highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s, and lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. Ahhhhhh….

Expect similar conditions for Monday and Tuesday, though we will warm a bit by Tuesday.

In other words, Sunday through Tuesday (for now!) looks like a good hay making stretch, though a few pop up showers are possible Sunday as a cold pool passes overhead, creating some instability.

Then we watch to see what transpires in the Gulf as some guidance is showing potential for a tropical system to form in the Gulf and make landfall and then be siphoned north, then northeast toward the Ohio Valley by mid to late next week.

This may mean a rain event by next Thursday, so I will keep monitoring that and updating you.

Have a great day!
