Good morning everybody, thank you for the updates and reports on the Joshua Hill fire in Leverett, MA, which is sandwiched between Rt. 63 and Montague Road.
If you have other factual and useful information about this situation, please post below.
As for our weather, aside from some overnight shower activity, we will be developing a mostly sunny day today, with a chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm later in the afternoon. Highs will reach the upper 70s to mid 80s. Lows will drop down to near 60 degrees at night under mostly clear skies.
For Saturday, the best chance for rain I’ve seen in weeks arrives as a warm front/cold front combo rolls through the WMass region in the afternoon.
The best chance for steadiest rain looks to be along and south of the Rt. 2 corridor, and clouds should increase Saturday morning with rain showers arriving by late morning and lasting on and off during the afternoon, with some thunderstorms possible as well. I am reticent to suggest they will be strong to severe, as it seems like there will be prevention of much surface heating by earlier clouds, but I will update you tomorrow morning.
Highs Saturday only reach the mid to upper 70s, but dew points will rise into the 60s, so it will be muggy. Lows will only dip into the low to mid 60s with continued chance for scattered showers and muggy conditions.
By Sunday, colder aloft works into the region, and destabilizes the lower atmosphere enough to produce scattered showers with highs in the low to mid 80s under partly sunny skies. Lows will dip into the upper 50s to low 60s with drier conditions.
Monday through Wednesday looks partly to mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, and a chance for scattered afternoon showers, with the best chance on Tuesday night into Wednesday when a weak disturbance may move through the region.
Have a great day, and if you live in Leverett, stay tuned to your Fire Department for updates, and I will post any updates that come across my screen below this post, and as a new post if important enough to do so.
