STORM UPDATE FOR SATURDAY… 7pm Friday…
Good evening everybody, I hope you had a good day, it certainly was summery and sunshine-y, but not clouds continue to stream in overhead in front of a warm front that moves through the region early tomorrow morning.
We could see a few light showers here and there tonight and before dawn tomorrow, but the main timeframe for isolated showers or thunderstorms is about 3-9am early tomorrow morning.
Any storms would be sub-severe, but a few heavy rainers may form (though nothing like our recent thundery morning).
Lows tonight dip into the upper 50s to low 60s with increasing clouds.
After morning showers or a storm, our conditions should develop into a humid but pretty nice day with partly sunny skies, and warm highs well into the 80s, with some upper 80s possible south of the Pike.
The cold front will be farther to the west, so we’ll have to wait until late in the day to get aid from its atmospheric lift (remember that cold fronts tend to act like meteorological bulldozers, and displace warmer more buoyant air skyward as the colder, drier air rams into the region at the surface, hence “lifting air”).
With a good amount of wind shear and moisture and some leftover instability late in the afternoon to early evening, we may generate some isolated showers, downpours and strong/severe thunderstorms form with gusty winds and hail possible.
Any activity wanes before midnight with lows dropping to near 60º.
Sunday is the pick of the weekend for sure, with drier air, still very warm in the 80s, and mostly sunny skies with a nice, clear Sunday night as well with lows in the low 60s.
Monday is hot and humid with highs cresting 90º, and late Monday night into Tuesday looks very warm, humid, showery and thundery, though the remnants of Tropical Storm Claudette (should it become named) may likely stay out to sea.
Have a great night!

PEAK LIGHT IS UPON US… SOLSTICE IS APPROACHING… A CHILLY MORNING RESPONDS TO THE HIGHEST SUN ANGLE COMBINED WITH SOUTHWEST FLOW TO RAISE TEMPS 30-40 DEGREES FROM TODAY’S LOWS… A FEW SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE THIS EVENING, BUT MORE SO DURING THE PRE-DAWN INTO THE MID-MORNING HOURS OF SATURDAY… ISOLATED STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE SATURDAY AFTERNOON… SUNDAY IS DRIER, WARM… MONDAY IS MORE HUMID, HOT… TUESDAY LOOKS SHOWERY WITH POTENTIAL FOR DOWNPOURS, WITH DRIER AND SUNNIER CONDITIONS MID TO LATE WEEK… 6:40AM FRIDAY…
Good morning everybody, we’ve got a super chilly start out there with temps in the 40s and low 50s, and even some upper 30s up near the Searsburg Reservoir in S.VT!
For today, our solstice-y sun angle reaching 71º of altitude by early afternoon will combine with southwesterly flow thanks to high pressure passing south of us to pump temps up into the upper 70s to mid 80s – a 30 to 40 degrees rise in temperature!
We’ll start off mostly sunny, but clouds will build in the afternoon as moisture starts to push eastward into the region. We could see a few showers this evening through midnight, but any activity looks like it will be light and isolated, meaning a few people get wet, but most don’t.
Humidity will rise as time goes on tonight, and lows will drop down to near 60º, with more showers expected after midnight with the approach of our warm front.
For Saturday, we’ll see some morning showers in spots with a few rumbles of thunder possible. The warm front will pass through tomorrow and humidity will increase, along with partly sunny skies developing which brings out high temps into the low to mid 80s.
This should set the stage for some isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms by mid afternoon, some of which may become strong to severe with a chance for isolated damaging wind gusts.
The cold front will be lagging to the west, so its lift will also not be present at the time of the strongest wind shear (i.e. change in wind speed and direction with height which helps organize stronger thunderstorms) and instability.
Still, a few isolated strong to severe cells are possible by mid to late afternoon, so keep an eye to the west.
Any shower or storm activity wanes at night, with lows dropping to near 60º.
Sunday sees brief high pressure building through with some drier air and mostly sunny skies, bringing high temps well into the 80s with lows in the low 60s, as humidity begins to resurge.
Monday is HOT, with highs (for a day) reaching the mid 80s to mid 90s with increasing humidity under mostly sunny skies and the fleeting control of departing high pressure.
As high pressure exits stage right, we’ll be watching a little tropical bowling ball hurtling northeast toward New England, also east and out ahead of a sweeping cold front that brings drier and more pleasant weather conditions by mid to late week.
Before that happens, said storm and cold front should interact to some degree to bring showers, downpours and possible thunderstorms late Monday night into and through Tuesday.
Highs will reach the low to mid 80s, and lows will drop into the upper 50s with a few remnant showers Tuesday night.
The mid to late week period looks lovely with highs in the 70s to low 80s under mostly sunny skies with lowered humidity.
Have a great day!
