Western Mass Weather for June 1, 2020

DID ANYBODY SEE FROST LAST NIGHT? A FEW INSTABILITY SHOWERS LATE TODAY POSSIBLE, AS IS THE CASE LATE TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY WITH A BETTER CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS… WE WARM THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, AND THURSDAY LOOKS LIKE THE PICK OF THE WEEK FOR WARMTH AND DRY WEATHER… FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY HOLDS ANOTHER CHANCE FOR SHOWERS/STORMS… SUNDAY LOOKS LIKE THE PICK OF NEXT WEEKEND… (7:40am Monday)

Good morning everybody, you know, in the future I am going to be more conservative with mentions of potential isolated patchy frost.

I know some folks frosted last night, and I feel badly about not mentioning that there was a very low chance of it transpiring, but it didn’t appear it would get cold enough.

I hope plants did not get damaged, but it definitely got colder overnight than expected. Let me know…

For today, we have the final cold pool of energy swinging through aloft along with a very weak disturbance that will cause mostly sunny morning to transition to a partly sunny day with cloudier periods and a few showers possible.

Highs will be in the 60s today, lower 60s in the high terrain, and upper 60s in the valley.

For tonight, no frost potential at all with lows in the low to mid 40s under mostly cloudy skies and a spot shower.

Tuesday looks mostly cloudy, especially in the afternoon when a few more isolated to scattered showers are possible. Highs will be in the mid 60s to upper 70s, with lows in the low 50s as another disturbance approaches from the northwest.

The Tuesday night into Wednesday night period holds the best chance for rainfall over the next 7 days, as a warm front and disturbance works into the region.

Wednesday will feature scattered showers and a possible thunderstorm or two, but it will be warmer with highs in the mid to upper 70s, and lows in the 50s with a few more showers possible.

Thursday is the pick of the week, and we will be fully in the warm sector. Highs will reach the upper 70s to mid 80s under mostly sunny skies with lows in the 50s. Humidity will start to creep up, especially in the evening.

By Friday, we will be humid (but not oppressively so) for a day, as highs peak into the low to mid 80s. Partly sunny skies will give way to more clouds as a cold front tracks into the region.

This will spawn scattered showers and thunderstorms Friday night into Saturday. Warmer temps in the low 80s on Saturday will settle down into the 70s on Sunday with mostly sunny skies and drier air.

Hope you have a good day…
