WAVES OF SHOWERS WASH THROUGH THE WMASS REGION THIS MORNING, MORPHING INTO ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON, LIKELY ENDING BY EARLY EVENING… A SEVERE STORM IS POSSIBLE, MOST LIKELY ALONG/SOUTH OF THE PIKE… SUNNY AND FAIR MONDAY AND MUCH OF TUESDAY WITH MORE SHOWERS TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING… MUCH OF WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY SEE SOME MORE SUN, BUT HEAVIER RAIN LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON INTO FRIDAY MORNING PRECEDES A DRYING A GOOD LOOKING WEEKEND FROM THIS VANTAGE POINT… 7:00AM SUNDAY…
Good morning everybody, hopefully the pitter patter of the overnight rainfall helped you to sleep well.
What a beautiful day we had yesterday, yes? Man oh man, more of those please. That was lovely.
As for today, we’re back in the more humid air as a warm front is passing through the region and bringing with it showers, some of which are on the heavier side. I am not seeing any thunderstorms at the moment, but we can’t rule one out this morning, with nothing particularly strong favored through the noon hour.
Highs today will reach the mid to upper 70s and it will be mostly cloudy as a trailing frontal boundary will push through tonight. South winds will gust over 20mph at times ahead of the front.
As it approaches, more isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop out ahead of it, and we can’t rule out a strong to severe thunderstorm with possibly hail or strong gusty winds.
The best chance for such strong activity will be along and south of the Pike, and things should be winding down between 6-9pm from west to east, hopefully a bit sooner.
Skies will clear overnight, and lows will drop down into the low to mid 60s. With dewpoints around those levels, patchy dense fog will develop in spots by sunrise.
For Monday and much of Tuesday we have a couple of great summer days on the way.
Humid, but not oppressively so, with highs in the low to mid 80s under mostly sunny skies, with Monday night lows in the low to mid 60s.
By Tuesday late afternoon and night, clouds will increase, and we will see some showers develop through the region in response to the first of two shortwaves that will round the bend of a stubborn upper level trough to our northwest.
Some thunderstorms are possible, and lows will drop into the upper 50s to low 60s with showers possibly lingering into the early daylight hours of Wednesday morning.
Wednesday will develop into a beautiful day as high pressure nudges into the region, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 70s and lows near 60º with continued humid conditions.
Thursday starts off beautifully as well, but clouds will increase after morning sunshine and highs in the mid to upper 70s.
A more robust wave of low pressure will push east into the region from the Midwest, and bring rain showers likely before sunset, lasting through the night and into Friday morning. Lows will again be in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Friday may feature some morning clouds or a shower, but then cooler and drier air works back into the region for Friday, Saturday, and possibly the whole weekend with mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70s to near 80º.
I think this intermittently rainy/sunny pattern, with less heavy rain events, and more sunshine interspersed is going to suit us just fine, indeed, and I hope it lasts.
Have a great day!
