Western Mass Weather for July 22, 2021

GO FIGURE THAT ASIDE FROM SUNDAY, WE’RE GOING TO SEE PLENTY OF SUNNY DAYS OVER THE NEXT 7… TODAY IS COMPARATIVE PERFECTION… A FEW SHOWER OR A STORM OTHERWISE PARTLY SUNNY FRIDAY… SUNNY SATURDAY, SHOWERY SUNDAY WITH INCREASED HUMIDITY WHICH LASTS INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK AS SUNSHINE RETURNS INTO THE MID-WEEK PERIOD… THE PATTERN HAS CHANGED! (6:50am Thurs)

Good morning everybody, we have turned a corner, and for that, I am most grateful. I don’t see any heat waves coming, nor do I see any washouts coming. That doesn’t mean we won’t see some rainy periods (Friday afternoon, Sunday into very early Monday, and possibly next Wednesday evening), but those aren’t rainstorms, or flooding events, best I can tell – just run of the mill summertime showers and thunderstorms.

Mainly what I see coming is a comparative abundance of sunshine when set within the context of what we just endured.

I’m going to employ a relative dearth of double dashes for your skimming pleasure, as, well, there isn’t a whole lot to talk about for once. It’s nice to have some atmospheric stillness for a minute, that’s for sure.

SUMMAH-RY
–High pressure moves through the region, and sunshine will be the result
–Highs will reach the mid to upper 70s with light northwest flow and LOW humidity
–Lows will drop into the mid to upper 50s under mostly clear skies, so I suggest you open all the windows and let that fresh, crisp air inside!
–For Friday, a mid-level shortwave will float through the region, and with it will come some cooler air in the mid levels
–We will start off mostly sunny on Friday, but will then see some convection fire, but instability will be lower, and wind shear will be on the weaker side
–We do expect isolated to scattered showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon, but nothing super impactful
–highs will again be in the mid to upper 70s with lows in the mid to upper 50s as we clear out again
–Saturday is another winner, and certainy the pick of the weekend
–Highs will reach the 75-80º range under mostly sunny skies with lows humidity, and lows will drop to either side of 60º as clouds increase
–A frontal boundary will approach the region on Sunday, and this should help produce a mostly cloudy sky
–Highs will rise into the upper 70s to low 80s but we’ll have intermittent showers during the day and into the evening thanks to a slow moving frontal boundary moving through the region
–Lows will be in the low to mid 60s as humidity increases, and a shower or a thunderstorm will be possible
–On Monday, any morning clouds clear out, and we get into a more humid, warm stretch with plenty of sunshine and highs in the low to mid 80s
–A cold front may approach later on Wednesday, which could kick off some afternoon showers or thunderstorms

When you read that forecast, you have to admit that we’ve turned a corner, at least temporarily.

Pattern change happens.

Let us all rejoice and be grateful, for today.

Be well, Dave
