HERE COMES THE SUN! PATCHY DENSE FOG BURNS OFF THIS MORNING REVEALING A MOSTLY SUNNY DAY… ASIDE FROM A SPOT SHOWER/STORM IN THE BERKSHIRES / SVT / WESTERN HILLTOWNS, WE’RE DRY TODAY… HOT AND HUMID FRIDAY WITH AFTERNOON SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS… SATURDAY SHOWERS ARE LOOKING ABUNDANT AS A FRONT STALLS OVER THE REGION, AND THIS ACTIVITY SHOULD CONTINUE FOR AT LEAST THE FIRST HALF OF SUNDAY… SOME HOPE BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK FOR A PATTERN CHANGE, BUT LET’S NOT GET OUR UNDIES IN A TWIST JUST YET… 6:50AM THURS…
Good morning everybody, thanks again for all the pics and reports again. The attached photo by Maria Cormier taken in Westminster, MA in Worcester County of a double rainbow with a lightning bolt above it was particularly striking (pun intended, all the way).
As for the rest of this report, I’m going to engage in my double–dashery activities as I know you’re all secret uber fans of hyphens, I can just tell these things.
SUMMARY
–Patchy dense fog has formed along the CT River Valley and in the Housatonic River Valley in the Berkshires as well, and a few other spots, with visibilities near a quarter mile in spots
–This fog will burn off this morning, earlier than yesterday morning, as there’s lots of dry air aloft
–Aside from a spot shower or storm in the hilly terrain today, we’re expecting a mostly sunny day as weak high pressure moves through
–It will be 10 out of 10 summer day with humid conditions and highs in the mid to upper 80s, with lows in the upper 60s under partly cloudy skies, with some fog possible late
–For Friday, a cold front will be slowly approaching the region fro the northwest
–Heat Advisories may need hoisting, especially for the central to southern Pioneer Valley from Northampton to Springfield to Hartford, as heat indices are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s
–High air temps will range from 85-90º, with dewpoints in the upper 60s to low 70s under mostly sunny skies once again!
–The difference is that the incoming cold front will likely set off some scattered showers and thunderstorms later in the afternoon and evening, and some storms may be strong
–Lows will be in the mid to upper 60s
–Our cold front will then likely stall to our south, cooling us back down for the weekend into the 70s and low 80s, and also focusing more showers over the region, especially on Saturday, Saturday night into Sunday
–It’s still uncertain as to where the front will stall exactly, and who will see heavier rains than others, and timing, so I will have to refine as we get closer, but the weekend is generally looking mostly cloudy and inclement
–The early to mid week period for next week should feature more partial sunshine, but chances for afternoon showers will persist given an upper level trough being near New England
–There is some hope for a shift in the pattern to drier more sunny weather, but it’s many days off, and just is something to monitor at this point, and certainly hope for, as we need the star shine
Have a great day and enjoy our yellow-white Space Orb!
