Western Mass Weather for July 13, 2021

BLOCKY PATTERN CONTINUES THROUGH THE WEEKEND, THOUGH SOME SLIGHT SHIFTS WILL BRING SOME SUN THROUGH AT TIMES… TODAY IS COOL, CLOUDY, DRIZZLY AT TIMES BUT NOT MUCH RAIN… OVERNIGHT MAY FEATURE SOME THUNDERSTORMS ALONG A WARM FRONTAL APPROACH… WARMER AND MORE HUMID WEDNESDAY WITH PARTLY SUNNY SKIES… BY EVENING, SOME STRONG TO POSSIBLY SEVERE STORMS MOVE THROUGH… THURSDAY AND FRIDAY LOOK AT LEAST PARTLY SUNNY WITH POTENTIAL FOR A SPOT SHOWER OR STORM EACH AFTERNOON, ESPECIALLY FRIDAY… THE WEEKEND LOOKS SHOWERY WITH A SLOW MOVING COLD FRONTAL BOUNDARY… IN OTHER WORDS, FUN FEST 2021 IS ON THE WAY, LET’S PARTY… 6:50AM TUES…

Good morning everybody, I’ll bring the dilled salmon fish cakes, you’ll bring the booze, and we’ll rip it up this weekend, chanting at the rain and thunderstorms as we use our collective human intention to will our weather into something palatable and transform our surface into an 80º, dry, sunny paradise, where tomatoes swell with tasty juice, fungus dissipates, soils dry, and vegetables grow with rapidity.

I’ll eat the fish cakes, you’ll drink the booze, and I’ll drive everybody home because desginating driving is my thing nowadays.

MY BELIEF AND SUGGESTION
But seriously, I believe that life’s not worth allowing the weather to completely inhabit your mood IF you can help it. I know some folks have mental/emotional issues or predispositions, so I’m clear on that, but anybody can choose to use what are called evidence-based inner resources – in this case, that would be a time when you experienced the best sunny day of your life, the most perfect fair weather. You can remember the place, the time, who you were with, what it looked, sounded, smelled and felt like, and immerse yourself in that memory COMPLETELY with eyes closed and feel the feelings of being there, what it was like.

Even if it only makes you feel good for 5 minutes, that’s 5 minutes less of feeling crappy today.

Look, you can read the above and say I’m a nutcake, or I should just stick to the weather, and you know, you have every right to say that and/or be miserable given this current weather pattern. It’s terrible on many levels, I get it, and I agree, but after you’ve suffered enough in life like I have, you find ways to change your emotional state no matter what just because it feels good and because it’s good for health.

WEATHER REPORT
–Another cool, cloudy and damp day is on the way, thanks to a block in the atmosphere with low pressure out over the Midwest, high pressure over Nova Scotia, and lower pressure south of there
–An area of showers is now in eastern Hampshire and Hampden Counties racing through CMass and away
–Behind that, we are stabilizing with a low level stratus cloud deck and we can expect some patchy drizzle from time to time, and may be an isolated light shower here and there
–Highs today will only be in the upper 60s to low 70s
–Tonight, cloudy skies continue with lows in the low to mid 60s and some patchy fog possible
–A warm front will be approaching, and this may produce some elevated thunderstorms if enough lift can be generated from warmer more humid air overrunning the cooler surface layer
–In other words, if you get woken up, don’t be surprised
–That activity clears out as Wednesday morning moves along, and then humidity, warmth and even some sunshine increases as the day wears on
–Expect partly sunny skies, with hilltown areas probably seeing more clouds than sun
–Highs will reach the upper 70s to low 80s
–Then a cold front approaches as the low over the Midwest that’s been just lollygagging around like an aimless wanderer finally lifts northeast into the eastern Great Lakes
–This should spawn some strong to severe scattered thunderstorms by Wednesday late afternoon into the early evening, and some localized isolated damaging wind gusts are possible
–Lows will be in the 60s as this activity moves off to the east
–Thursday and Friday still look pretty nice, with highs in the low to mid 80s Thursday and mid to upper 80s Friday with mostly sunny skies each day and a chance of a spot shower or storm each afternoon, with lows in the 65-70º range each night
–The weekend is looking still warm and humid, but showery and possibly thundery at times, with mostly cloudy skies as another cold front slowly moves into the region
–Highs will be in the low to mid 80s with lows in the 60s
–We might see some improvement by early to mid next week, but it all depends on the weekend cold front and if it continues to truck through, or if it sort of stalls, which would prolong our wet weather chances, so say a prayer for us now, and don’t save it for the morning after

Have a great day!
