FLASH FLOOD WATCHES CONTINUE… RAIN FALLS HEAVILY AT TIMES THIS MORNING BUT SHOWERS SHOULD BECOME MORE ISOLATED/SCATTERED SOUTH OF RT. 2 CORRIDOR IN THE AFTERNOON, WHEREAS NORTHERN MA, SVT AND SWNH MAY CONTINUE TO SEE STEADIER RAINFALL DURING THE AFTERNOON WHERE OVER AN INCH OF RAIN WILL LIKELY FALL TODAY… COOL TODAY AND TOMORROW, WHICH WILL BE ON THE DRIER SIDE… HEAT RETURNS WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, POSSIBLE STRONG/SEVERE STORMS WEDNESDAY… DRIER THURSDAY AND FRIDAY… ANOTHER FRONTAL BOUNDARY MAY BRING MORE SHOWERS OVER THE WEEKEND… NO SIGNS OF PATTERN CHANGE AT THE MOMENT… 7:05AM MONDAY…
Good morning everybody, rise and gray! Go outside, spread your wings, look skyward, smile, and scream “I Love You, Cosmos!” as the cold rain pelts your face with abandon. Then maybe do some mud angels, if you’re up for it, and finish it off with a nice, cold Wim Hof shower, ahh the glorious cold water does wonders!
*Record Scratch sounds here*… and now for something completely different…
SUMMARY
–It’s going to rain today, the end
–I’m kidding! No really, it’s going to rain some more
–We have mid-level flow out of the southwest
–We have low-level flow out of the north and northeast
–This combined with very humid air continues our showers this morning, heavy at times, as a shortwave tracks into New England
–By afternoon, areas south of the Rt. 2 corridor, generally speaking, should see shower activity wane and thin out, so a few showers still possible
–Those along and north of the Rt. 2 corridor are likely to see a plume of rainfall continue to set up over that area
–Anywhere from a quarter to three-quarters of an inch is possible south of Rt. 2, and anywhere from another .5-1.5″+ of rain is possible along/north of it
–Flash Flood Watches continue across the region until 8pm
–Highs today will only reach the upper 60s to low 70s with cool northerly surface flow
–By late in the afternoon, we could see additional showers develop everywhere, and we can’t rule out a thunderstorm or two, especially in northwest CT
–Lows tonight will be in the low to mid 60s with a few scattered showers at times with patchy fog late
–Tuesday represents another day with that warm frontal boundary staying to our southwest, keeping us in this anomalously cool flow out of the northeast
–It does look a little drier with some scattered showers around, with highs again in the upper 60s to low 70s under mostly cloudy skies
–Thanks to a system to our north, the warm frontal boundary finally has enough oomph to be dragged northeast and through the region sometime on Wednesday
–As this happens Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, another round of rainfall will be focused through the WMass region with lows in the mid 60s
–Wednesday starts off cloudy and rainy, but should develop into a partly sunny day by afternoon with highs in the low to mid 80s, with a few thunderstorms possible in the afternoon’s destabilized lower atmosphere
–Showers and storms may last into the evening with lows in the 60s
–Thursday right now looks like the pick of the week with a, dare I say it, mostly sunny day? Here’s hoping
–It will be warm and humid with highs in the low to mid 80s and lows in the 60s
–Friday looks similar, and warmer, with highs in the 85-90º range, with a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible, but another partly to mostly sunny day
–The weekend is murky at the moment, as a cold front may be trying to work through the region, so for now, assume highs in the 80s with partly sunny skies and afternoon showers/storms possible but I will refine as we get closer
I hope something in your day goes really well for you.
