THE 4TH OF JULY A BIT MILDER BUT SOME SHOWERS POSSIBLE AT ANY TIME… WE WARM BACK UP EARLY NEXT WEEK BEFORE MORE SHOWERS/STORMS LATE TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY TAMP US BACK TO SEASONABLE LEVELS… THE SEESAW BEGINS… 6:50AM THURS…
Good morning everybody, thanks very much for all of your reports yesterday! Rainfall varied quite a bit over the region, with the northernmost Litchfield Hills northeast into western/central Hampden County seeing generally under a third of an inch of rain, whereas many other areas in the Berkshires into the northwestern hilltowns, the valley and CMass saw 1-3″ of rainfall, so a big range for sure.
For today, while a few stronger thunderstorms are possible mainly in northern CT where the best parameters line up, we should just see mainly showers with some downpours mixed in a at times, with a run-of-the-mill (ROTM?) t-storm here and there.
A few isolated lighter showers are possible early this morning, but by late morning to early afternoon, another wave of rain develops into the region as our cold front now draped over northern NY/VT descends south toward our region, passing through overnight.
Highs today will reach the mid 70s to low 80s, which is about 10 to 20 degrees cooler than the past three days.
Humidity will still be high until the front passes through, so expect a muggy, damp, showery day, especially by afternoon, with dewpoints remaining in the 65-70º range.
For tonight, showers and potentially periods of stratiform rainfall continues, heavy at times, with lows dropping into the low to mid 60s.
For Friday, cooler northeasterly flow (off of the ocean) takes hold. We’ll be rainy in the morning, and showery in the afternoon as the rain shield breaks up a bit behind the cold frontal passage to our south.
Highs will only reach the mid to upper 60s with lows in the 50s with some showers at night.
Saturday is the coolest of this near-term stretch, with highs only in the low 60s!! Some folks may not reach 60º in the high terrain up in southern VT. With mostly cloudy skies, northeasterly flow, and scattered showers at times, it’ll feel more like early Spring than early Summer. Lows will again be in the 50s with scattered showers possible.
The 4th of July should hopefully turn out ok with partly sunny skies, or perhaps more clouds than sun, but still with some sunny breaks, but scattered showers will be possible, with highs in the low 70s, and lows in the 50s as we finally start to clear out as the upper level low over the Great Lakes finally moves over and east of us and out to sea.
Early next week looks sunnier, warmer, and more humid. Highs Monday reach the low 80s, and on Tuesday should soar into the upper 80s to low 90s for a day.
Then a cold front approaches by mid week and should bring some showers and thunderstorms with highs in the 80s.
Have a great day!
