SUMMARY:
–Good morning everybody, it is frigid outside, with many areas below zero, but fortunately we will rebound into the mid to upper 20s for highs under sunny skies
–For tonight, we’ll move through another very cold night with lows in the low single digits under clear skies, but not quite as cold as this morning
–Tuesday could feature periods of clouds over parts of CMass, especially east, and down into northeast CT with onshore flow
–The rest of us in WMass should see more of a partly to mostly sunny day with highs in the low to mid 30s: so balmy!
–Lows Tuesday night should sit down to either side of 20º
–On Wednesday, a warm front moves into the region bringing clouds and milder temps, rising into the upper 30s to low 40s for highs
–Showers arrive overnight with lows down near the freezing mark, and a few patches of freezing rain can’t be ruled out for northwest MA up into SVT
–On Thursday, we’ll be sitting within a zone of converging air with milder air to the southeast and colder air to the northwest as a cold frontal boundary over the Great lakes into northern NY starts to slowly seep southeast toward New England, causing a widespread ribbon of lift in the atmosphere
–It will still be quite mild with highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s with rain developing due to this lift as Gulf of Mexico moisture begins to be wrung out over New England
–Lows Thursday night are expected to get down to or below freezing, which means any rain may turn to a period of freezing rain causing very slippery conditions late Thursday night into Friday morning as the cold front works through
–As the cold layer adjacent to the surface deepens from ground to sky, any icing should change to a period of snow before ending sometime on Friday
–Highs will reach the 30s on Friday, and precip will quit sometime during the day, but I’m not sure of timing just yet
–Lows Friday night behind the front plummet into the single numbers with any wet, icy or white surfaces freezing solid, so heads up if you have Friday night or early Saturday morning travel plans
–The weekend looks fair but cold with highs in the teens to 20s Saturday and 20s to low 30s Sunday
Have a great day, and I hope things go your way today!
