VERY COLD TEMPS TONIGHT FOSTER MORE BLACK ICE IN SPOTS… SATURDAY COLD AND DRY, SUNDAY FEATURES SOME SNOW SHOWERS, POSSIBLY A SQUALL… MONDAY IS THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM, THEN A COMPLEX WINTER STORM SETUP MAY BRING PLOWABLE SNOWFALL TO THE REGION TUESDAY MORNING INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING BEFORE THE DEEP FREEZE WASHES THROUGH THE REGION ONCE AGAIN… (8:20pm Friday)
Good evening everybody, I will keep this brief, as most folks aren’t kicking around on FB Friday nights, but we have an active pattern, so I will pull out my trusty double-dashes and get to summarizin’…
–Lows tonight crater into the single digits to low teens with light winds and partly to mostly clear skies
–For tomorrow, we’re on the edge of very cold air as high pressure noses in creating partly sunny skies and highs in the 20s. A flurry is possible
–Lows Saturday night will drop into the teens with a few flurries or snow showers possible
–After a warm front passes through, temps rise to more seasonable levels and should top out in the mid to upper 30s
–A cold front will be on its way toward our region, and this may kick off a period of snow showers, some of which may be heavy and coat the ground in spots, especially over the Berkshires
–Sunday night lows will be in the teens, with highs on Monday in the 20s under mostly sunny skies
–We cloud up Monday night and become quite cold with lows in the low teens
–Low pressure in the northern stream looks to ride southwest to northeast along the southeast bounds of a lobe of the Polar Vortex, a true Arctic air mass
–Depending on how this system tracks, and how much the polar air mass digs south into the east-central part of the country, will determine where and how strong a secondary low forms somewhere along the east coast
–If it positions near the Mid Atlantic or upper DelMarVa, it could track in such a way as to bring a moderate to major snow storm
–If not, the two systems may stay somewhat disjointed, and cause a Monday night into Tuesday morning period of snowfall with a change to ice or rain, and then a change back to snow late Tuesday night as a cold front moves in
–So, this storm has implications for the Tuesday morning, Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes, so please stay tuned and I will refine as we get closer
–For sure, after this storm clears out Wednesday, VERY cold air is set to plunge into southern New England Thursday and Friday with windy conditions, brutal wind chills and another deep freeze
Stay tuned for updates this weekend and next week, and have a great night!

BLACK ICE PATCHES THIS MORNING… A FEW SNOW SHOWERS POSSIBLE TODAY… SEASONABLE TODAY, VERY COLD TONIGHT AND COLD BUT FAIR TOMORROW… A BIT MILDER FOR SUNDAY WITH A FEW SNOW SHOWERS POSSIBLE, THEN WE TURN TO TUESDAY WHEN A COASTAL STORM WILL DEVELOP ON THE LEADING EDGE OF ANOTHER PURE ARCTIC AIR MASS, WHICH ARRIVES LATE NEXT WEEK… (6:25am Friday)
Good morning peoples of the Golden West, we’ve got generally fair and colder weather to weather as we move from today through Monday. A stormy and potentially snowy Tuesday sets the stage for another Arctic seep for the late week period. Details? I have a few…
SUMMARY
-We should see mostly sunny skies today, although a few snow showers are possible as a little disturbance moves through
–Highs will reach the mid 20s to low 30s. Lows tonight drop into the single digits. Very cold. More black ice. Yay. Not.
–High pressure builds in on Saturday with highs in the low to mid 20s under partly sunny skies. Lows will be in the teens
–A warm front moves through the flow Sunday with a few snow showers, and highs in the 30s
–Lows Sunday night will drop into the teens
–We’ll have one more fair weather day on Monday with partly sunny skies and highs in the 20s before changes arrive Monday night
–Low pressure will be developing along the southeast base of an incoming Arctic trough
–Where this tracks will determine our precip types, but for now, it looks like snow develops late Monday night into Tuesday
–We may change to a wintry mix before changing back to snow late Tuesday into the night before the storm pulls away
–I will continue to monitor this developing storm situation and keep you updated
–Behind this storm, Arctic air moves in for late week with highs in the teens by Thursday
Have a great day!
