Good morning everybody, as Life still surges through us, we rise and face another day. May your morning hot beverage of choice feel especially potent, and may the day provide at least one period of time that makes you feel happy to be alive.
I haven’t rolled out the double-dashes in a while, and so to give them their day in the snow, I mean sun, I shall peck them our forthwith and with vigor.
SUMMARY
–It’s already snowing in southern VT, the Taconics, and Berkshires and this will continue this morning into early afternoon
–A coating to 2″ is possible in these areas, but in SVT in eastern Bennington/western Windham Counties, 2-4″ is possible
–Highs today will reach the low to mid 30s in SVT, and more like the mid to upper 30s elsewhere across the region
–By later this afternoon, a cold front will be approaching our region
–This will likely set off some scattered snow squalls due to steeper lapse rates advecting into the region
–Some of these squalls may produce gusty winds, lowered visibility, and slick road ways, so take it easy if you get under one of them
–It’s possible some of these may be mixed snow and rain, or even plain rain showers in the lower Pioneer Valley and northern CT, depending on what time of day they get in here (the earlier toward mid afternoon, the better chance for rain in some valley areas)
–The cold front passes tonight, and temps will drop into the teens everywhere
–With northwest winds gusting to 25mph overnight, wind chills will drop into the single digits to near zero degrees
–A blustery and cold weekend arrives! Bundle up folks!
–Highs on Saturday under mostly sunny skies will only reach the low to mid 20s, with some upper teens highs possible north of the MA border!
–Northwest winds will gust 20-30mph at times, and will produce wind chills in the single digits and low teens DURING THE DAY
–Lows crash to about 5-10º Saturday night with continued northwest wind gusts to 30mph, which means wind chills are heading below zero for most of us, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see some Wind Chill Advisories posted by NWS tomorrow for northwest MA up into SVT/SWNH. I will pass those along if they are activated
–Sunday is still blustery under mostly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 20s
–Northwest winds will continue to gust 20-30mph thanks to a high to our northwest and our departing low to the northeast, producing our windy pressure gradient
–Sunday night will very cold again with lows in the upper singles to mid teens and still breezy
–Monday moderates a bit with continued fair weather and highs in the upper 20s to low 30s with lows in the teens and increasing clouds
–A light snowfall is possible Tuesday as a storm scoots due east off of the Mid-Atlantic coast to our south, but could spread its northern snow shield up to the MA/VT-NH border, with the steadiest snow along/south of the Pike
–As of now, it looks like a 1-3″ type deal, but I’ll update you as I get closer
–Continued cold for the rest of the week, with signs of moderating temps by next weekend
Have a great day and may The Force be with you!!
