Western Mass Weather for January 21, 2019

WIND CHILL WARNINGS AND ADVISORIES CONTINUE THROUGH TOMORROW MORNING ACROSS THE REGION… GUSTY NW WINDS WILL GENERATE WIND CHILLS OF 15-35 BELOW ZERO TODAY AND TONIGHT… WINTRY MIX TURNS TO RAIN WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY WITH A RETURN TO COLD THEREAFTER… (6:15am Monday)

Good morning everybody, temperatures are starting off this morning in the single digits below zero in most spots, with some double-digit readings below zero in southern VT! Very, very cold out there, and with wind gusts reported over 30mph in places, you just need to bundle up, layer up, and gear up to head out into this truly pure Arctic air mass.

SUMMARY
–Today is partly sunny and brutally cold, with some snow showers out over the Berkshires, SVT and high terrain. Areas of blowing/drifting snow are expected
–Northwest winds will gust 30-40mph at times today, and gusts to 30mph have already been reported this morning
–For tonight, lows drop again into the single digits below zero with wind gusts to 30mph or so. Super cold!
–For Tuesday, high pressure builds through the region and to our south, with sunny skies and highs in the upper teens to low 20s, and lows 10-15 degrees as clouds increase
–For Wednesday, warm advection overrunning sets up over our cold dome, with snow and sleet breaking out across the region, and changing to rain in the afternoon
–Highs will reach the mid to upper 30s as low pressure cuts to our west, allowing mild air into the region from the southeastern U.S.
–Rain continues, heavy at times, Wednesday night into Thursday when highs should reach well into the 40s
–Friday and Saturday look colder with fair weather, before more snow showers are possible Sunday, and storm signals shifts to next Tuesday

I will keep an eye on all of it and keep you updated.

Have a great day!
