Good morning folks, everything froze solid last night, and we had some minor accumulations in the high terrain with the upslope snow showers as expected for some of us. Light snow showers are relegated to the Catskills of southeast NY this morning, while we’re expecting a blustery, cold and sunny day. SYNOPSIS:
–Good morning folks, winds have been gusting since midnight up to and just over 40mph with fresh cold aid advection
–This will continue today with gusts of 25-40mph out of the northwest with high pressure moving east toward the Mid-Atlantic coast
–A patch of morning clouds in WMass will eventually move along and we should see mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper teens to mid 20s
–Wind chills will dip into the upper single digits at times
–Lows tonight will quite cold, dipping into the single digits to maybe low teens as clouds increase with a warm frontal approach
–For Wednesday, a Clipper system tracks east along the Canada/U.S. border, and drapes a warm front to its south, which progresses through the WMass region
–This will pop our highs up into the mid 30s to low 40s for a bit of a mild reprieve and some melting of snow and ice for a day
–At night, a few snow showers may flutter through to the north of the Rt. 2 corridor with a cold frontal approach, and lows are expected to dip into the low to mid 20s
–Meanwhile, a weak wave of low pressure looks to ripple along that cold front as it passes south of us, and this may produce a period of light accumulating snow mostly south of the Pike Thursday morning, especially in northern CT points east
–This should be gone by afternoon, and we can’t rule out an inch or so of accumulation
–Highs Thursday will climb into the mid to upper 20s, and then another Arctic air mass will advect in behind the cold frontal passage as any snow quits by noon
–For Thursday night, we’ heading back into the deep freeze with lows in the single digits below zero to singles above zero, so bundle!
–Frigid Friday will foist highs in the teens upon all of us, but it should be a mostly sunny day with cold high pressure building in. Lows again will be below zero.
–For the weekend, we watch a coastal storm that will develop somewhere near the Carolinas to Virginia coast bringing more snow to those folks
–Whether this storm will be able to turn the corner and come up the coast to bring snow to southern New England remains to be seen, but I will keep my eye on it and update you
–I’m sort of doubting it will at this moment, but if it did, snow would arrive Saturday afternoon into the evening
–Highs this weekend should be in the 20s with lows in the single digits, and Sunday looks like the weekend pick at the moment
