Good morning folks, it’s a bit chilly out there! What are your temps this morning? Let me know your temp and town, please! The wind chills reaching down to 20 below zero be over by mid/late morning. WEATHER BULLETIN:
–Our cold front just passed north to south during the pre-dawn hours, and brought some snow showers that coated the ground in some areas
–Final snow showers are finishing up over eastern Hampden County, northeast CT and southern CMass
–Winds have been gusting up to as high as 40mph this morning with the frontal passage, and wind chills have been dipping down toward 20 below zero in spots
–Temps are ranging from -5º in SVT up to the low teens in northern CT and the single digits in WMass
–For today, the core of our cold (which is merely the southern grazing of a deathly-cold Arctic air mass centered well north of us) will swing through the region, and be gone by tomorrow
–Highs will reach the single digits up to the low/mid teens across much of the region, with plenty of sunshine as high pressures moves into the region
–This will help tamp any northwest gusts up to 25-35mph this morning down to calm by tonight, and then light south after midnight
–Before we turn the wind out of the south as high pressure scoots south and east of us by tomorrow, we’ll get strong radiational cooling during the first half of tonight
–This will help ensure that our low temps get down to either side of the thermometer’s goose egg (0º)
–A few increasing clouds and developing light southerly flow will halt temps from falling further, and allow temps to rise on Wednesday as high pressure pulls further east of us
–Wednesday highs will reach the upper 20s to mid 30s under partly sunny skies with lows near 20º
–Thursday will be the “warmest” over the next 7, most likely, reaching the low to mid 30s, which is about seasonable for this time of year
–That day will also feature the most clouds through the weekend, as a low passes to our north
–Friday through Sunday looks fair with plenty of cold sunshine as a gigantic and powerful low center blows up over the Atlantic Ocean well east of us and blasts a blizzard into Nova Scotia AGAIN
–This will pull down much colder air by Saturday
–Expect highs in the 20s Friday, teens Saturday, and 20s on Sunday with light northerly flow, except for Friday given that our ocean storm will pull some wind through our region as it tracks well east (gusts might reach 25mph at times)
–We’ve got the cold through end of January, the way it looks now, we just need the storm tracks to deliver the snow
–But for those snow detesters out there, you are in luck, for now
–There’s a storm signal for Monday, but we’ll take it with a grain of salt for now

Have a great day and get ready for some (cold) sunshine!
