Good morning fine folks, it certainly has been a rainy overnight period, and quite mild for most of us.
The rain has flipped to snow in the high peaks of southern VT (Mt. Snow, Stratton, Equniox Mountain, and other portions of eastern Bennington County and western Windham County), so some light wet snow accumulations are expected there.
Otherwise, mild air overwhelmed as expected last night. Temps are mostly in the mid 30s to low 40s across the region, and we’re probably about 5 degrees away from our high temps for the day in some spots.
Rain and snow will quit between 8-10am, and partly to mostly sunny skies will develop by early afternoon as a dry alot punches through the region.
As the occluded front sweeps north, westerly winds will develop behind the departing low and gust up to 30mph or so in the valley, but up to 40-50mph in the Berkshires, central/northern Taconics and southern Green Mountains in VT.
Some snow showers will be possible in those aforementioned high terrain areas in the northwest part of our region, whereas northern CT, WMass, CMass and most of SWNH should remain dry.

For tonight, winds continue to blow with lows in the low to mid 20s, which will drive wind chills lower into the single digits and teens for many of us.
For Friday, partly sunny skies will develop, but will still be under the effects of cyclonic flow from a large trough in eastern North America.
This will produce highs in the low to mid 30s with westerly winds gusting 25-30mph at times, with snow showers later in the afternoon for northwest MA, eastern NY and southern VT. Lows will dip into the teens to low 20s as snow shower activity starts to drop south through the Taconics, Berkshires and Litchfields, quitting by Saturday morning or so.
The weekend is fair and cold, with highs in the mid/upper 20s to low 30s both days under partly to mostly sunny skies with slackening winds. Lows will dip into the teens both nights.
High pressure responsible for our cold and fair weekend shifts east and then produces, once again, a southerly flow with milder air for much of the coming work week.
Aside from some early onset mixed precip Monday night into Tuesday morning, more rain looks likely Tuesday into Wednesday, with colder air coming by late next week, as the seesaw ride continues.
Have a great day!
