[ALERT 6:55am] WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES HAVE BEEN HOISTED FOR NORTHEAST CT IN TOLLAND AND WINDHAM COUNTIES… AS MENTIONED LAST NIGHT, THE SNOW SHIELD HAS AMPED A BIT AND WILL CAUSE A LIGHT ACCUMULATION FROM A COATING UP TO 3″ FOR MUCH OF WMASS AND NORTHERN CT (LESS NW, MORE SE)… WITH AN AREA OF 2-5″ IN NE.CT AND SOUTHERN CMASS BY TOMORROW MORNING… WHAT ARE YOU SEEING WHERE YOU LIVE?… ALSO, THE ANNUAL 2022 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE HAS LAUNCHED (CLICK SECURE LINK BELOW):

Good morning everybody, as I mentioned last night, the snow shield was drawn north a bit more than expected early yesterday morning, which has caused snow to accumulate this morning already in many areas, including a report from Gail M. in Monson, MA of 1.5″ on the ground.

This is due to an area of mid-level frontogenesis that formed after midnight that appears to be related to an interaction between a storm northwest of us, and a weak coastal low that will pass south of Long Island tonight which pulled the snow shield a bit more north and amplified some more, as I alluded was possible last night.

This morning will be when this pulse of snow moves through and drops much of the aforementioned coating to 3″ of accumulation in WMass and north-central and northwest CT. Some coatings to an inch are possible SVT and more so in SWNH.

By later morning this first wave should weaken as the area of lift moves east of us, but periods of light snow showers will be possible for the rest of the day and into the night.

However, as the low gets closer to the coast overnight, a second pulse of accumulating snow is expected for northeast CT, and could also impact easternmost Hampden County and southern central MA, especially the Worcester metro area.

These areas are more likely to end up with 2-5″ of fluffy snow.

Quite a difference from yesterday’s weather! Welcome to New England! Highs will only reach the upper 20s to low 30s with lows in the singles to low teens. #StillFebruary

I will update later this morning, but for those who like snow, enjoy this little gift, and speaking of gifts, if you find my work and this resource useful and would like to see it continue forward, my 2022 Membership Drive has launched, so please click the link below to see what gifts are available in exchange for your support today, and there are “non-stuff” options too.
