TODAY’S DATE: Thursday, February 10, 2022
Good morning everybody, it’s a bit of a low one today as I slept horribly and my ex-housemate passed away 1 year ago this morning during a very snowy period in 2021 – an echo of the Blizzard of 2013 from 9 years ago that I experienced living with her and her husband, who also passed 2 years ago. Both were angels in my life in so many ways and helped me immeasurably simply by their example and being around them for the years I lived in their nest (which is the period when I developed this weather resource).
As you age, you realize just how short life is and how much better it is when you’re a more loving person to others and yourself. It’s a common wish for the dying… to wish they had been more kind in general.
After that levity-laden tidbit, now here’s Dave with the weather…
Folks, be sure to watch for slick spots this morning as our temps are sitting either side of the freezing mark and we have mixed showers of snow, freezing rain and rain moving through with a couple of disturbances.
We’ve got mild temperatures to enjoy today through Saturday before a cold front brings a Canadian taste to the region with some light snow possible Sunday, but before we dive into the details below, let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with a new location in West Springfield, MA.

SUMMARY:
–Good morning everybody, low pressure to our north and high pressure to south will drive southwesterly flow into the region today, with another mild, melting day on the way
–However, we first have to deal with a couple of weak troughs pushing east into the region, bringing scattered light mixed precip showers of snow, freezing rain and rain
–Some isolated slick spots are possible, so be alert this morning
–While intermittent light showers may linger in SVT, SWNH and the Berkshires, points south and east should be drying out and seeing at least partial sun developing
–Highs will be in the 40s today for the most part, with lows in the 20s tonight as we clear out
–Friday is a sweet high pressure day with mostly sunny skies expected and highs reaching the low to mid 40s
–Clouds will increase Friday night as lows drop into the mid 30s and a strong cold front approaches
–For Saturday, The Mildening will be underway, with the mildest day in a long while!
–Highs will reach the 45-50º range, and a few showers will be possible with the cold frontal passage in the afternoon
–As cold air advects into the region Saturday night, lows will dive into the teens and low 20s with a few snow showers late
–By Sunday, an area of low pressure looks to develop along the cold front now to our south, which could bring some light accumulation to parts of the WMass region
–Highs on Sunday will only be in the mid to upper 20s with lows in the single digits to low teens
–Monday and Tuesday look cold with highs in the teens to 20s Monday and highs in the 20s Tuesday with lows in the single digits to teens over that 48 hour period
–But, fair weather is expected with mostly sunny skies, which continues into mid-week as warm back up to near 40º
