Western Mass Weather for Feb. 8, 2020

[LIGHT SNOW LATE SUNDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY MONDAY] BEFORE THAT, WE’RE COLD AND DRY TODAY, VERY COLD TONIGHT, WITH A FEW SNOW SHOWERS POSSIBLE SUNDAY… OUR WEAK LOW TRACKS WEST TO EAST SUNDAY INTO MONDAY WITH LIGHT SNOW AND RAIN… ANOTHER QUICK SNOW/RAIN DISTURBANCE MOVES THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY… DRY WEDNESDAY… MORE SNOW AND RAIN LATE WED. NIGHT INTO THURSDAY WITH A COOLER WEEKEND AHEAD… (7:30am Sat)

Good morning everybody, no big storm in sight after yesterday’s changeable weather day. Cape Cod had hurricane-force wind gusts of up to 80mph in Chatham and 77mph in Wellfleet and Truro.

Temps are starting out in the teens to low 20s, and winds are slackening, though a 40mph wind gust was reported at Worcester an hour ago or so.

Highs will range from the low to upper 20s across the region today under mostly sunny skies.

Temps will crash into the upper single digits tonight as high pressure moves overhead and clear skies combine with wintry aridity and air that sits and takes a breather for a moment.

For Sunday, we’ll likely see more clouds than sun overall, with highs in the low/mid 30s.

A weak wave will move through and could touch off some rain or snow showers in the late morning to early afternoon with a break in the action late in the afternoon and evening.

Clouds will fill back into the region Sunday night as lows dip into the upper 20s to low 30s.

Weaker low pressure tracks west to east from Lake Ontario through northern New England, creating an overrunning setup where light snow will break out across the region after midnight into the pre-dawn hours of Monday.

Some very light accumulations are possible, and we will likely also see a change to rain south of the Pike, and possibly even as far north as the Rt. 2 corridor.

Highs on Monday after the storm keeps trucking east will reach the upper 30s to mid 40s with lows in the mid to upper 20s.

More mixed showers are likely on Tuesday and Tuesday evening with highs in the upper 30s and lows in the 20s as another system rides along a stalled boundary to our south. Again, no big whoop.

Wednesday looks dry with highs in the mid to upper 30s and then more light snow/rain is possible Wednesday night into Thursday as yet another weak system rolls through in the zonal flow.

Friday through the weekend looks fair and cooler at the moment, with no big storms in sight.

Have a great day!
