Good morning everybody, I have heard that there multiple car accidents earlier this morning in northeast CT and southern Worcester County based on the freezing drizzle issue I reported on a couple of hours ago, hopefully you and nobody you knew got caught up in that mess!
We still have some ongoing flurries and light snow shower persisting in southwest VT, the Berkshires, Taconics and northern Litchfields.
Some coatings will result from this activity out that way, which has to do with moisture trapped beneath a temperature inversion, which is keeping clouds socked into the region.
For today, it will be mostly cloudy with sunshine developing in the afternoon, with highs only in the upper 20s to low 30s, quite cold!
For tonight, clear skies early should allow for temps to drop into the upper teens before stabilizing as clouds increase ahead of our incoming upper level system for Wednesday.
Tomorrow morning, we will see snow showers break out across the region as our system comes diving through. It’s a light event, but still should drop about a coating to 2″ across our region by tomorrow night, with some areas just seeing some “air snow” or dustings on grassy areas.
This is mainly a morning event for the region, and then some snow showers will be possible in the afternoon/evening in the high terrain west of the I-91 corridor.
Highs will be in the mid 30s with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s.
Behind this system, northwest winds will gust 20-30mph on Thursday as mostly sunny skies develop with highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s, and lows in the low to mid 20s.
For Friday, as high pressure moves through to our south and off the east coast, a southerly flow develops, producing mostly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 40s. Lows will bottom out near freezing.
For the weekend, we get milder with said southerly flow, which will be enhanced by a storm passing to our northwest, putting us on the warm side of the storm.
Highs will reach the upper 40s to low 50s both weekend days, with Sunday a bit milder than Saturday.
While a few scattered showers are possible Saturday afternoon, it looks like Saturday night into Sunday is the best chance for rainfall as a warm front/cold front combo works through the region by Sunday evening.
The cold front will bring colder temps Sunday night into Monday with some snow showers, and it will be colder by next week with highs in the 30s as Winter slowly seeps into the WMass region.
A quick glance further out shows the potential for a few storms over the next couple of weeks, and I will keep you updated on whether they’re expected to be wet or white, and I wish you a good day today, stay healthy, people…
