Western Mass Weather for December 30, 2018

NEW YEAR’S EVE STARTS BRIEFLY WINTRY NORTH OF RT. 2 IN THE HIGH TERRAIN, THEN TURNS TO RAIN FOR FIRST NIGHT #LAME, BUT REVEL OUT AND ABOUT WE WILL NONETHELESS… (7:10am Sun)

Good morning everybody, aside from an isolated snow shower this morning, we should be on the way to a mostly sunny day with highs in the low to mid 30s and lows tonight in the 20s as high pressure builds through the region.

For tomorrow, a southerly flow is established as high pressure pushes further east, and low pressure gets set to track through the Great Lakes to our west.

We start off mostly sunny but see clouds increase by afternoon with showers possible before 4pm.

We may be cold enough in SVT and SWNH, along with some high elevation Rt. 2 corridor towns in WMass and CMass to begin as a snow, sleet, freezing rain mix.

Because precip moves in during the day, we should change to all rain by dinner time New year’s Eve and then rain all night along, unfortunately. About half an inch to a full inch of rain is expected.

Highs Monday are in the mid 30s to low 40s, with lows in the mid 30s.

New Year’s Day starts off showery but becomes partly sunny by late morning to early afternoon with a mild day and highs near 50. Lows will drop into the mid to upper 20s.

Seasonable and fair weather should end the week with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s.

Have a great day!
