LIGHT SNOW EARLY MONDAY MORNING… OTHERWISE, SEASONABLY COLD AND FAIR WEATHER DOMINATES MUCH OF THE UPCOMING WEEK… SNOW/ICE TO RAIN ON FRIDAY BEGETS A NICE NEXT WEEKEND… NEW YEAR’S EVE SNOW?
(6:25pm Sat)
Good evening everybody, are you seeing these posts? Let me know, if you would.
For tonight, northwest winds will still be gusting 20-30mph at times, and with lows dropping into the 20s, it will be a brisk night out for sure, so bundle up!
For Sunday, we should see winds slacken, and enjoy mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 30s. Quite seasonable, I would say.
Clouds increase tomorrow night, with lows again dropping into the mid 20s as an Alberta Clipper system dives southeast into New England.
These lil’ lows sure are cute, but tend to be parched and dehydrated. Give that storm some water, stat!
Unless these Clipper lows drop into a more amplified flow (more south to north than west to east), then they end up being flat trackers with cold/land origins, which means they drop a coating to 2 or 3″ usually.
Light snow should overspread the region late tomorrow night, and most likely after midnight and before 8am Monday morning.
A coating to an inch of snow should do it in most spots, but some higher terrain areas could see around 2″ of snow.
Snow quits early on Monday with mostly cloudy skies for the balance of the day and highs in the 30s, with lows in the low 20s as we clear out.
Tuesday through Thursday features fair weather and high pressure with mostly sunny skies, highs in the low to mid 30s, and lows in the 20s.
With antecedent cold air in place Thursday night, an area of low pressure pushes southwest out of the Ohio Valley passing to our west. With cold air in place, we should see a period of snow, sleet and freezing rain until we change to rain later on Friday when we warm into the 40s.
A milder and fair weekend follows before we cool back down by Sunday night into Monday, by which time another storm may bring wintry weather for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.
Stay tuned, people, and have a great night tonight, whatever your plans are…

LIGHT SNOW POSSIBLE TOMORROW NIGHT INTO EARLY MONDAY MORNING.. .CT RIVER AT MONTAGUE AND NORTHAMPTON MAY CREST INTO MODERATE FLOOD STAGE TONIGHT INTO TOMORROW MORNING (NORTH TO SOUTH)… MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY LOOKS FAIR… SNOW AND ICE THURSDAY NIGHT TRANSITIONS TO RAIN FRIDAY… EYEING SNOW FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE, STILL EARLY…
(7:00am Saturday)
Good morning everybody, to start, I want to ask if anybody saw any substantial wind yesterday? I know in CT some wind gusts materialized, but am curious about WMass, CMass, SVT, SWNH, so let me know.
I ask because some folks got little if any wind due to an inversion that setup. Temperature inversions are named as such because their profile is the inverse of what you’d expect, which is that temps at the surface are warmer than temps aloft. When temps are the same or in an inverse relationship, it can prevent winds from mixing down to the surface.

–Any morning snow showers early Monday give way to a mostly cloudy day with highs in the mid to upper 30s and lows Christmas Eve in the 20s
