HAPPY VERNAL EQUINOX, I MEAN WINTER SOLSTICE! THE LIGHT RETURNS! AND SO DOES AN ECHO OF THE SUMMER PATTERN FOR TODAY… RECORD HIGHS EXPECTED… FLOOD WATCHES CONTINUE AND WIND ADVISORIES HAVE EXPANDED INTO SOUTHERN WORCESTER COUNTY AND NORTHEAST CT… PATCHY DENSE FOG IS POSSIBLE TODAY AND TONIGHT… TASTE THE TROPICS FOR A DAY… (5:50am Friday)
Good morning everybody, that pitter patter cadence is back, along with the muted sound of water rushing through gutter systems everywhere. Surely today is a snow lover’s worst nightmare.
Your busy, I’m busy, let’s get busy, shall we?
–After initial lighter rains and some icing last night, temps have soared into the 40s, with a few low to upper 30s hanging on in southern VT and other areas
–It’s already in the 50s in southern CT, as the warm front is ripping north, helping to usher in the heavier and steadier rainfall this morning
–While wind gusts of 30-50mph are still expected today (already gusting to 35mph in North Adams), a temperature inversion should at least temper and tamp the strongest winds from mixing to the surface
–Highs will reach the mid 50s in the high terrain and possibly the low to mid 60s in the valley! That would break records for sure
–Expect 2-4″ of rain generally speaking. Some will get a little less, and some could get more
–The bulk of the rain falls by 6pm tonight
–Scattered showers are expected tonight and through tomororw morning
–Lows tonight will only be in the 40s, and highs on Saturday crest to near 50 degrees before dropping during the day after a cold frontal passage
–We should see some sunny breaks tomorrow in the afternoon, and westerly wind gusts of 25-30mph are possible Saturday afternoon and evening
–Lows drop into the 20s Saturday night
–Sunday looks nice as high pressure builds through with mostly sunny skies and highs back down to the seasonable mid to upper 30s, with lows in the 20s
–Still thinking some light snow gets in here sometime on Monday and possibly into Christmas Eve, but not a big deal. Light accumulation possible
–Christmas Day looks mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 30s and lows in the upper teens to low 20s
–More snow showers are possible by mid week, and another inside runner storm may bring some more rain late next week, although some mix in the high terrain is possible
–After that? Strong signals continue for a drop into real Winter conditions with cold and snow chances. More on that as we get closer to the New Year
Have a great day, stay dry, be nice to others, be kind to yourself, and hold the door for someone behind you – you know, being-a-decent human type stuff
