Western Mass Weather for August 16, 2020

{OUR RAIN DEARTH CONTINUES, THOUGH CLOUDS AND COOL RULE THE DAY… WE CAN’T RULE OUT A LIGHT SHOWER OR TOO, ESPECIALLY SOUTH OF THE PIKE IN MA AND CT THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING, BUT RAIN IS SHUNTED SOUTH BY DRY AIR… ANOTHER DISTURBANCE FOR TOMORROW NIGHT BRINGS A FEW SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS… THEN WE WARM FOR MUCH OF THE WEEK WHILE KEEPING HUMIDITY IN CHECK… MORE UNSETTLED WEATHER POSSIBLE SATURDAY… 8:10AM NON-SUNDAY]

Good morning everybody, a lazy day has arrived. It will be mostly cloudy and cool with highs only in the low to mid 70s.

As a storm tracks off of the east coast destined to pass about 100 miles south of Nantucket, a few showers will make it into northern CT or south of the Pike in WMass/CMass this afternoon and evening.

However, dry air to the northwest of the precip shield thanks to high pressure positioned northeast of us up in the Canadian Maritimes will keep most of the rainfall confined to southeasternmost MA, RI and southeastern CT.

Lows tonight will dip into the upper 50s to low 60s with cloudy skies and a shower possible, but mostly dry in the WMass region.

Monday will feature a bit more sunshine with partly sunny skies expected before another shortwave and front moves through our region overnight.

Highs will be a tad warmer, cresting into the mid to upper 70s, and clouds will increase later in the day.

As our system passes west to east through WMass, some scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop in late afternoon, evening and overnight, but severe weather is not expected. Lows will drop again into the upper 50s to low 60s.

The Tuesday through Thursday period looks to feature mostly sunny skies with warmer highs into the mid 70s to low 80s from high elevation to low valley locales. Lows will generally be in the 50s to near 60º.

This period continues to feature dew point temps in the 50s to near 60º, so we have broken the #MuggyMonster as well as the cycle of heat waves and reprisals we had been through in July.

By Friday we could crest highs into the low to mid 80s with a slight uptick in humidity that lasts into Saturday before another front comes through with showers and thunderstorms.

Hopefully by Sunday, conditions will clear out, but I will update you in future reports on the upcoming weekend as our current one wafts its way to a close.

I might have to do some cooking today, if I do, I’ll post pics later.

Enjoy your Lack-of-SunDay…
