Western Mass Weather for August 15, 2021

HIGH PRESSURE BRINGS 2-3 DAYS OF MOSTLY DRY WEATHER, ESPECIALLY SUNDAY/MONDAY, SO SAVOR THESE DAYS I SAY… A SHOWER OR ISOLATED STORM IS POSSIBLE LATE TUESDAY, BUT MOSTLY DRY AS WELL… HUMIDITY INCREASES TUESDAY EVENING AND THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK THINGS BECOME UNSETTLED WITH INCREASING CHANCES FOR SHOWERS, DOWNPOURS AND THUNDERSTORMS, WHICH WILL LAST INTO THE WEEKEND… 7:55am Sun…

Good morning everybody, well that’s much nicer, isn’t it? Fling open the windows and let it all in, I say.

Dry, crisp, temperate, comfortable.

What looked like 3 amazing days, is now looking like 2 amazing days, with a transition day on Tuesday to more cloudy and humid conditions with only isolated chances for a shower or a storm, while many stay dry Tuesday.

For today and tomorrow, expect mostly sunny skies today with some high clouds possible later, and highs in the 75-80 range, and lows in the low 50s.

For Monday, mostly sunny skies are expected, but as high pressure centered over the eastern Great Lakes today moves east and toward the coast tomorrow, southeasterly flow will direct moisture over the Mid-Atlantic to start coming up north into our region. This will introduce more high to mid level clouds overhead, so the afternoon may become more partly sunny for sky cover.

Still, it will be dry with highs again in the 75-80 range and lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.

By Tuesday, high pressure tracks further east, and now a southwest flow will be over the region, and said moisture to our south will start to be pulled deeper into the region, leading to a mostly cloudy day with a few sunny breaks, especially early.

We can’t rule out an isolated shower or thunderstorm or two Tuesday evening and overnight across the region, especially west of the I-91 corridor into the Berkshires.

Highs Tuesday will reach the upper 70s to low 80s, with lows in the low to mid 60s.

By Wednesday, we’re back in the soup, folks, with a firmly-entrenched southwest flow, and the remnants of Tropical Storm Fred being drawn into the region over the following 24 hours into Thursday.

This will produce a greater chance for scattered showers, downpours and thunderstorms with higher humidity, and mostly cloudy skies.

Highs again will reach the upper 70s to low 80s with lows in the 60s.

Friday and Saturday look warmer, with highs in the low to mid 80s as southwest flow continues, but we should see more typical summer-type days with partly sunny skies, and afternoon showers/storms possible.

We may get a break in the humidity by Sunday or Monday, but we’ll refine that in later reports.

Have a great day!
