***CLOUDIER AND COOLER IN CMASS AND NORTHEAST CT, WHILE SUNNIER AND WARMER TODAY IN WMASS, NORTHWEST CT AND SVT WITH SWNH STRADDLING BOTH SKY-COVER WORLDS… CLOUDY AND COOL TOMORROW WITH SOME DRIZZLE OR SCATTERED SHOWERS POSSIBLE SOUTH OF THE PIKE AND EAST OF I-91 FOR SUNDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING… A FEW SHOWERS OR STORMS MONDAY NIGHT BEGETS A SUNNIER AND SEASONABLY WARMER WEEK AHEAD… 7:40AM SATURDAY***
Good morning everybody, we have a few fog patches out there, but they will burn off this morning.
We also have a low level cloud deck spreading westward off of the ocean and into parts of northeast CT and eastern Worcester County that will achieve a western extent somewhere around or east of the Quabbin Reservoir’s longitude today.
This is thanks to an easterly flow generated by the combination of Tropical Storm Kyle to our southeast (this storm will pass harmlessly out to sea) and high pressure to our north.
These features will generate cooler highs in the 70s under those cloud decks, but also provide a northeasterly breeze for the WMass region today, with gusts over 20mph at times. We’ll enjoy very low humidity, too!
Highs will reach the upper 70s to low 80s with partly to mostly sunny skies in WMass, north-central and northwest CT and SVT. Southwest NH is tricky, right on the cusp of that cloud deck, so perhaps it’s more firmly in the 70s eastern part of Cheshire County, and upper 70s to low 80s toward Keene and the CT River.
For tonight, lows will dip into the upper 50s, so another cool night is on tap under increasingly cloudy skies.
For Sunday, a second Mid-Atlantic storm system ejects east-northeast off of the coastline and spreads clouds into our region.
Highs will only reach the middle 70s for many of us, and some drizzle will be possible south of the Pike and east of I-91 in northeast CT and eastern Hampden and southern Worcester Counties. A few showers are possible, but I think they will be relegated to areas over southeast MA and southeast CT/RI.
Lows will be in the upper 50s to near 60º with cloudy skies and continued chances of drizzle or isolated lighter showers.
For Monday, we’ll have one more cooler day with partly sunny skies and highs in the 75-80º range. A disturbance will pass to our north in the afternoon, and could bring some evening showers and thunderstorms into the region. Low will drop into the low 60s.
For Tuesday through Friday, high pressure nudges into the region, and we’ll warm to seasonable levels, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s in the high terrain, and the low to mid 80s in the valley locations of the WMass region with lighter winds and comfortable humidity levels.
We need the rain, but the incoming weather will be easier on the bones, that’s for sure.
Hope you have a great day….
