Western Mass Weather for August 14, 2020

[ONE MORE BONAFIDE VERY WARM DAY AND THEN WE COOL DOWN THIS WEEKEND WITH BREEZY CONDITIONS TOMORROW… BEST CHANCE FOR SHOWERS OCCURS SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY, ESPECIALLY FOR AREAS SOUTH OF THE PIKE… WE WARM A BIT INTO THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK, BUT WE’RE GOING TO ENJOY LOWER HUMIDITY FOR THE NEXT BATCH OF DAYS AND NO HEAT WAVES IN SIGHT… 7:20AM FRIDAY]

Good morning folks, pedestrian weather continues to settle into the region, and lowered humidity has arrived.

Dewpoints are in the 55-60º range this morning with air temps not that much above that. Some Berkshires patchy fog, and other fog patches will dissipate with time this morning.

Expect a partly sunny day on average, and it will be quite warm with highs in the low to upper 80s from the high elevations to valley locales across the region.

A few spots showers are possible, but most of us will remain dry. Lows tonight will drop into the low to mid 60s under partly cloudy skies.

For Saturday, we’ll be stuck between high pressure to our north and low pressure to our south, and the combination of the two will produce a northeasterly, onshore flow which will chill out southern New England, big time.

Highs will reach the mid to upper 70s, and I think we’ll see more in the way of partly sunny skies east of I-91, and more sunshine west of everybody’s favorite cement-laden corridor.

An easterly wind will form as well, and we’ll get some gusts up over 20mph at times during the day.

Lows will drop into the upper 50s to low 60s, so it’ll be quite the cool, and likely cloudier start on Sunday morning.

With continued onshore flow on Sunday, and a low pressure system emerging off of the Mid-Atlantic coastline, we’ll get a mostly cloudy day with highs in the 70s.

In addition, scattered showers or even a period of lighter rains are possible Sunday night into Monday, but mainly south of the Pike, as that storm will likely stay pretty far too our south, we shall see. Lows Sunday night drop into the low 60s.

Any showers on Monday will dissipate by afternoon or evening as highs peak out in the 75-80º range. Lows will be in the upper 50s to low 60s.

High pressure should move into position to our south by Tuesday through Thursday which looks to be a warmer period with highs transitioning from the upper 70s to low 80s, to the low to mid 80s by later next week.

Abundant sunshine looks to rule that period, so while we need the rain, at least we’re not getting the heat and humidity, as it looks like comfortable levels of humidity will make (most of) our skin pores smile with relief.

Have a great day!
